Commentary (Highveld Lions innings)

That's it from us for today. Tomorrow is yet another double-header, both games at Durban, with Auckland taking on Titans at 1130 GMT (1700 IST) followed by the Kolkata-Perth Scorchers match at 1530 GMT (2100 IST). Hope to have your company then. On behalf of the commentators and scorers, Adios! Take Care!

Right! A one-sided game to start off the day but a thriller to end it. Hope that you have enjoyed the entertainment. Lions next meet Sydney Sixers on Thursday, 18th October, 2012 at 1130 GMT (1700 IST) at Cape Town while Chennai take on Mumbai at Johannesburg on Saturday, 20th October, 2012 at 1530 GMT (2100 IST).

AARON PHANGISO (HIGHVELD LIONS) HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that he really enjoyed his bowling on this slow wicket and he was really loving making the batters play. Says that his confidence is sky high and is really enjoying his bowling at the moment.

VICTORIOUS HIGHVELD LIONS CAPTAIN ALVIRO PETERSEN is relieved as he felt that his team conceded 15 runs too many. Praises Bodi for anchoring the chase and also adds that the team felt that if there were wickets in hand, even 10 runs per over could be chased down. Says that it feels nice to know that one more win will put them into the semis but wants to take one game at a time and do well next time.

CHENNAI SKIPPER MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI says that the team had its moments. Got off to a good start with the bat, lost its way in the middle but still managed to reach 160 which he felt was a good score. Blames the two no balls for the loss of momentum while bowling and adds that such small moments decide their game. Is full of praises for Doug Bollinger and Ben Hilfenhaus for giving it their all. Admits that it is a tough road ahead but is confident of bouncing back.

But Chennai struck back, removing the duo in quick succession and the Lions were back in trouble. But young Jean Symes and Chris Morris hit some lusty blows and took their team across the line with 3 balls to spare. Chennai were excellent with the ball for a major part of the game but Ashwin and Morkel went for plenty and that cost them the game. Bollinger was brilliant with his 2-wicket haul.

Bodi started off slowly and for a while it seemed as if it would be good for Chennai if he stayed in the middle. But then suddenly, he opened up and the boundaries started to come. He was ably supported by Neil McKenzie and it felt like the Mumbai game all over again, only this time de Kock being replaced by Bodi.

19.1 A Morkel to C Morris, Full and wide outside off, making the batsman reach for it, sliced to deep point for one. 151/4

The bowling was good in parts, losing its shape at the start and towards the end. Morris and Phangiso were excellent and had they not been there, Chennai would have surged past 180. The pitch looks a difficult one to bat on and it all depends whether dew takes its effect. Stay tuned for the run chase...

Faf du Plessis and Vijay got off to a terrific start but then were pegged back, by the duo of Morris and Phangiso. The middle order lost its way until Dhoni came out to the middle. He was well supported by Badrinath and the duo had an enthralling partnership to take the score past 150.

Great blast from Chennai in the last few overs to reach a competitive total. This is almost the same score which Mumbai made the other night. 56/2 in the last 5 overs and only time will tell how fruitful that will be.

19.6 S Tanvir to S Badrinath, SAFE. That is excellent running. Full on middle, 110 kph, Badrinath flicks this behind square leg. The batsmen charge back for the second. The throw is at the keeper's end and it is a good one too. But replays show that Badrinath has just about managed to make it. CHENNAI FINISH ON 158/6! 158/6

And we have a run-out appeal straightaway...

Wriddhiman Saha walks out at number 8, replacing Dhoni.

19.5 S Tanvir to MS Dhoni, OUT! Caught! The slower ball does the trick. Short outside off, 118 kph, Dhoni hops and attempts to swat it over long off but does not have enough on that. The top edge carries to Symes at long off. Dhoni departs for 34 and the 50-run stand is broken. CHENNAI SUPER KINGS 156/6 IN 19.5 OVERS! 156/6

50-stand is up! Off just 25 balls!

19.4 S Tanvir to S Badrinath, Yorker outside off, 83 mph, eased to short extra cover for a run. 156/5

19.3 S Tanvir to S Badrinath, Good running again. Low full toss, heaved down to long on for two more. Tanvir is not happy with the fielder. 155/5

19.2 S Tanvir to S Badrinath, Fuller, 110 kph, flicked through mid-wicket for a couple. This partnership has turned the game in favour of the Indian side. 153/5

19.1 S Tanvir to MS Dhoni, Length ball on middle, pulled away towards mid-wicket for a single. 151/5

Sohail Tanvir to start proceedings for the Lions.

Faf du Plessis and Murali Vijay stroll out onto the centre. A good opening stand should lay the perfect foundation for CSK's strong middle order.

The teams walk out to complete formalities of shaking hands with each other.

The Lions are unchanged from the previous game while Chennai have a couple of changes - Michael Hussey and Yo Mahesh sit out and have been replaced by Albie Morkel and Wriddhiman Saha.

TOSS - HIGHVELD LIONS have won the toss and will BOWL. Chennai wanted to bat first anyways, so issues for either captain.

Chennai, on the other hand, haven't got off to a good start as they suffered a defeat in their opening match against the Sydney Sixers. They would be looking to make amends, go all out and get crucial points on the board. A cracker of a contest is definitely on cards.

The Lions have got off the mark on the points table in a blistering fashion having beaten Mumbai in their opening encounter. A brilliant performance saw them outclass the winners of the lest edition by 8 wickets. They would be looking to continue their winning momentum.

Hello and welcome to the Group B encounter of the Champions League T20 between Chennai and Highveld Lions at Cape Town.
