Commentary (Delhi Daredevils innings)

That's it from us then! Kolkata have made it to the final but Delhi are not out of the tournament. But the loser of tomorrow will be out of the tournament. It is between Chennai and Mumbai at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Delhi will await the winner of that clash in the second Qualifier, which will eventually be the virtual semi-final. Thanks a lot for being with us tonight. See you tomorrow at 1430 GMT (2000 IST). Until then, on behalf of the commentators and scorers, Adios! Take Care!

YUSUF PATHAN HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that his big hitting is always a big hope for his side and he is unhappy that he has not been able to come good this time around. Is happy for tonight. Admits that he got some time in the middle tonight, around 7-8 overs, played himself in and then started to hit the big shots. Is looking forward for the final game and hopes to do well there too.

Victorious Kolkata skipper Gautam Gambhir says that he was confident with the score posted and credits Shukla and Yusuf Pathan for their heroics. Gambhir credits the entire bowling department and refuses to praise only one particular player. On Balaji's fitness, Gambhir says that he is not sure himself and adds that the good thing is that the next game is 4 days away.

Delhi captain Virender Sehwag admits that his side did not bat too well. Two wickets upfront and they got onto the back foot. On leaving out Nadeem, Sehwag says that Aaron and Yadav were bowling well and it was a tough choice. A little bit of grass put the favour for the quicks. Hopes to perform well in the next game and get to the final.

Maximum sixes award - Yusuf Pathan. Catch of the match award - David Warner.

Two wickets apiece for Kallis and Narine but all the bowlers did well in general. Shakib went for a few runs but bowled well in general. This was a contest between two good sides but on a spinning track, questions will always be asked as to why Delhi chose to leave out Nadeem. When Kolkata were 106/4, had Nadeem been there, things could have been different.

A brilliant all-round performance from Kolkata. They started well with the bat but lost their way in the middle. Pathan played a cameo and took them past 160. And then, after going for some runs in the first few overs, they struck gold with the wickets of Warner and Sehwag off successive deliveries. There was some fightback through the stand between Jayawardena and Ojha but once the former was dismissed, the writing was on the wall.

Most of the people watching this game are completely flummoxed over the promotion of Negi over Taylor. My colleagues over here are busy searching his domestic records.

19.6 S Narine to U Yadav, Flighted outside off, 94 kph, hammered down to long off for a run. KOLKATA WIN BY 18 RUNS AND REACH THE FINAL! 144/8

19.3 S Narine to P Negi, OUT! Stumped! That should be the game for Kolkata if Narine does not bowl any illegal deliveries. Flighted outside off, 82.6 kph, Negi comes down the track and swings hard but is beaten. McCullum does not miss. 142/7

19.2 S Narine to I Pathan, Short again, 90.2 kph, Pathan goes for the pull again but mistimes it towards square leg. Just a single. 21 needed from 4 balls! 142/6

If Warner and Sehwag fire upfront the total will look minuscule but if Kolkata manage to get rid of them early, we could see a close contest. Join us in a while...

63/1 in the last five overs and Kolkata have posted a challenging total on the board. Gautam Gambhir provided a brisk start but his wicket resulted in the drop of run-rate. The innings was just meandering around but a 24-ball 56 between Pathan and Shukla powered them to 162/4. Delhi bowling was superb in the middle overs but they gave it away towards the end.

19.6 V Aaron to Y Pathan, FOUR! Finishes it in style! A low full toss on middle, Pathan whips it behind square leg for yet another boundary. 21 off the over and Kolkata have finished on 162/4! 162/4

19.5 V Aaron to Y Pathan, FOUR! Fuller in length outside off, Pathan smacks it through covers for a boundary. 158/4

19.4 V Aaron to Y Pathan, SIX! Dropped! And Warner it is! Shortish delivery on middle, Pathan pulls it firmly down the ground. The ball is uppish, Warner takes it casually in the deep and makes a complete mess out of it. He ends up parrying it beyond the ropes. 154/4

19.3 V Aaron to L Shukla, Finds the blockhole this time, Shukla digs it out to point and crosses. 148/4

19.2 V Aaron to L Shukla, Pulls it over mid-wicket, Taylor misfields a bit and Shukla returns for the second run. 147/4

19.1 V Aaron to L Shukla, FOUR! Boom! A fuller length delivery outside off, at 147.7 kph, Shukla rifles it through covers for a boundary. Reaches the fence in a flash. 145/4

Right then, we're all set to get underway. The players are taking the field. Gautam Gambhir and Brendon McCullum are the openers for Kolkata.

Delhi - Virender Sehwag(c), David Warner, Mahela Jayawardena, Ross Taylor, Venugopal Rao, Naman Ojha(w), Irfan Pathan, Pawan Negi, Morne Morkel, Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav.

Well, Gautam Gambhir probably forgot to mention that Laxmi Ratan Shukla is playing today in place of Manoj Tiwary. Here is Kolkata's playing XI - Gautam Gambhir(c), Brendon McCullum(w), Jacques Kallis, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Debabrata Das, Laxmi Shukla, Rajat Bhatia, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Sunil Narine, Iqbal Abdulla.

Toss - Virender Sehwag is fit and he walks out to the middle with Gautam Gambhir for the toss. The news out is that KOLKATA WILL BAT FIRST! They once again are going in with the same playing XI, comprised of three spinners. Sehwag says that the toss cannot be controlled and now they will look to restrict the opposition to a decent total. Informs about a couple of changes, as he comes in place of Unmukt Chand, while Ross Taylor is back for Andre Russell.

Once again it will be the contest between the brothers and the best friends and one thing is guaranteed, a full on entertainment. Sit back and enjoy...

Even if the side loses today, it's not the end of the world as the losing team will get another chance of making it to the finals by facing the winner of tomorrow's eliminator between Mumbai and Chennai at Bengaluru. Plenty of action in store heading into this week.

It's 1-1 this season in head to head, with Delhi defeating Kolkata at the Eden Gardens and Kolkata returning the favour at the Kotla. On paper there is nothing to choose between both teams but given the fact that the game is being played at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Kolkata have an advantage considering the wicket to be on the slower side. Lack of quality spinners could sting Delhi at this stage.

Greetings to all our viewers and thank you for tuning in to the coverage of the Qualifier 1 between Delhi and Kolkata at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium. Both sides have been pretty dominant in this season and it won't be wrong to put this contest as the battle of heavyweights!!

18.6 M Morkel to Y Pathan, Explosion of power. A full length delivery, bludgeoned past the bowler for a couple of runs. Warner in the deep hares to his right and saves a certain boundary with a dive.
