Commentary (England innings)

LUKE WRIGHT HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. That's all we have for this match. The second match of today, between West Indies and Sri Lanka will start in a while. Do switch to the other tab to catch all the action from that.

The Kiwis are almost out of the tournament. They did have a strong start to the ICC World Twenty20 with Brendon McCullum's blitzkrieg century, but from there on, it's been a down slide. Some of the team combinations were quite questionable.

That ends a fantastic victory for England. They handed over the Kiwis their third successive loss in World Twenty20. The bowlers did a good job on a slow wicket earlier on. 149 was a trick chase and Alex Hales gave a strong support. The openers departed and then the main partnership came between Luke Wright and Eoin Morgan. They did not hold anything back and steered their team to a safety and then Luke Wright piled on runs. He played a fantastic knock and looks in line for his second Man of the Match award in this tournament.

Commentary (New Zealand innings)

The pitch seems to have worn out as this is the LOWEST TOTAL BATTING FIRST AT THIS GROUND. A very slow wicket was on the cards but the Kiwi batsmen had a tough time adjusting to it. Finn was wonderful early on and Danny Briggs too, bowled well. Swann bowled a very economical spell in the middle. Ross Taylor was shaping up for the death but he departed quite early after a decent start. James Franklin was the main man in the middle and he struck a wonderful 50. Batting second would be tough here and England will have to tackle all their demons well to chase down 149. Join us back in a while.

19.6 Tim Bresnan to D Bracewell, Full outside off, Bracewell lofts it over mid off and comes back for two. Hales with the throw at the striker's end, Bracewell would have been gone but Kieswetter fumbles and gets a mouthful from Alex Hales. 148/6

The throw is flat and hard from the deep and Kieswetter gets ahead to flick the bails off. Franklin did not dive and that means he is found short, as seen in the TV replays. 146/6

19.4 Tim Bresnan to J Franklin, Bowls full down the leg side, Franklin backs away on the leg side to flick that but misses out. He is very angry with umpire Taufel for not giving that a wide. 145/5

19.3 Tim Bresnan to N McCullum, Bowls full outside off, McCullum fails to get bat, Franklin gets quickly to the other end and they steal a bye as Kieswetter misses his shy at the striker's end. 145/5

The national anthems are done and the Kiwi openers walk out to the middle. Rob Nicol will take strike along with Martin Guptill. On his debut ICC World Twenty20 appearance, Danny Briggs will open the bowling with his slow left-armers. Slip in pace, Graeme Swann it is.

NEW ZEALAND - Rob Nicol, Martin Guptill, Brendon McCullum(WK), Ross Taylor(C), James Franklin, Kane Williamson, Nathan McCullum, Doug Bracewell, Daniel Vettori, Kyle Mills, Tim Southee.

ENGLAND - Craig Kieswetter (WK), Alex Hales, Luke Wright, Jonathan Bairstow, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad(C), Graeme Swann, Steven Finn, Danny Briggs.

Toss - New Zealand have won the toss and ELECTED TO BAT FIRST. Ross Taylor informs that Doug Bracewell is in place of the unfit Jacob Oram. England too have made changes. Jade Dernbach and Samit Patel are left out in place of Danny Briggs and Tim Bresnan.

Pitch report - The track's been watered but the cracks are opening up. The team chasing will have a tough time to bat. Should be a bat-first toss to win. Tony Greig says 180 should be the total to aim for the team batting first.

Both England are New Zealand are faced with a do-or-die situation today. The losing side may as well be going home, unless there are washed-out games in the upcoming matches of the same group. Hello one and all and welcome to the 5th match of the Super Eight stages of the ICC World Twenty20. This encounter may surely decide which team may survive.
