Commentary (Sydney Sixers innings)

A fantastic show comes to an end, it almost brings down the curtains on the prolonged T20 season. We will be back on the international scene as New Zealand will tour Sri Lanka and will kick off their campaign with a one-off T20 day after tomorrow. Do join us for that. Till then, farewell!

And now the trophy goes up! The players gather around the huge cup and dance around. Sydney Sixers are the champions of the CLT20.

The winning captain, Brad Haddin collects the 2.5 million US dollars cheque. He accepts that they were average in the semifinals but played well today. He bluntly admits that today was a gamble of opening with spinners and may not work all the time. Feels that the gut instinct has helped in a lot of decisions throughout the tournament.

And now Alviro Peterson gets the runners-up cheque of 1.3 US million dollars for his team. He feels that they had a good tournament and not a lot of people expected them to be in the final itself. Does not believe it's about the big-stage occasion but just could not get the right balance of cricket. He appreciates the crowd but is disappointed with the effort. Is happy with the way his team performed as a unit though.

Mitchell Starc has been named the MAN OF THE SERIES. He also gets the GOLDEN WICKET for his 14 wickets in the tournament.

Michael Lumb has been named the MAN OF THE MATCH and also gets the GOLDEN BAT for being the highest run-getter in the CLT20 2012.

Michael Lumb and Mitchell Starc have topped the Batting and the Bowling charts in the tournament. While Lumb was good in parts, Mitchell Starc was outstanding throughout the tournament and is going strength to strength since his superb outing in the UAE against Pakistan. Sydney Sixers as a team, have played two tournaments and won both, the Australian league under the skillful captaincy of Steven Smith, and this one under the experience of Brad Haddin and are the second Australian team to win the CLT20 in four editions, but surprisingly, Australia as a national team have never won the Twenty20 World Cup themselves.

Highveld Lions, who had batted poorly today, also came up with a poor fielding effort as well. Not only did they put down chances, but also could not do much as Michael Lumb and Brad Haddin went berserk with a fantastic opening unbeaten stand.

That ends a fantastic victory for the Sydney Sixers. Brad Haddin has led his side to this tournament, going unbeaten, and that is some achievement on foreign soil.

Commentary (Highveld Lions innings)

"Lions have done extremely well to recover from 9-4 to 121, but whether this is good enough to beat the strong Sixers I'm not sure..." tweets Ayaz Memon.

Highveld Lions were rocked back early on but unlike the Titans, they could not get a stunning comeback but have still done remarkably well to recover from 9-4. While Hazlewood and McCullum were excellent with 3 wickets apiece, Jean Symes surged ahead with some counter-attacking strikes and got decent support from Tsolekile and Pretorius to take Lions to 121. Whether the low score will be match-winning or not, you'll have to join us back in a while to witness the chase.

Alviro Petersen and Gulam Bodi are the openers out in the middle for the last time in this tournament. It will be Nathan McCullum, the off-spinner with the new ball for Sydney. Here we go then!

The players walk onto the field now. It's the biggest stage of the tournament and pressure will be on the batsmen early on to get a good start.

It's bright and sunny as of now, which is a positive sign, but there are predictions for thunderstorms later so let's hope that they stay away.

Pitch report - It's nice and hard. A flat batting track and expect a lot of runs from this strip.

Toss - Sydney Sixers have won the toss and THEY WILL BOWL FIRST! Brad Haddin, who is playing with a fractured left thumb, says that they would like to defend a total and chase it down. Is pretty excited about the final. Mentions that they go unchanged. Alviro Petersen doesn't mind batting first at all. They too will play with an unchanged team.

We are all ready for the big final. The champions of Australia, Sydney Sixers will clash off with the local side, Highveld Lions at Johannesburg. Sydney are featuring in this edition for the first time and have done exceedingly well above expectations to come to the summit. The local sides are the favourites for this one, but Sydney will surely give everything they have in this one, in spite of Shane Watson's absence.

Dwaine Pretorius into the attack.

11.6 D Nannes to B Haddin, FOUR! That's been pulled away! A short of a length delivery, Haddin gets his pull to beat the mid-wicket fielder for a boundary. 108/0
