Ayaz Memon tweets, "Stopping a rampaging Chris Gayle is going to be the biggest challenge for opposing bowlers this season again"

Mohali started brilliantly, with Awana nipping 3 early but it was the Gayle and AB show since then. 87 for Gayle, 52 for de Villiers and a 131-run stand between them. Got to feel for Awana, 4 wickets in vain. If only he could have got the wicket of Gayle early, who knows, Mohali could have ended up winning the game!

Well, almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory there, Bangalore. After Gayle and de Villiers took the game away from the opposition, Mohali nearly came back superbly. In the end, the game was dragged into the last over.

19.3 A Mahmood to A McDonald, FOUR! That is it! Full outside off, 126.1 kph, McDonald drives it through the covers and pierces the gap. No one in the deep and the ball races away to the boundary. BANGALORE WIN BY 5 WICKETS! 166/5

19.2 A Mahmood to D Vettori, Length delivery on middle, worked through mid-wicket for a run. 2 needed from 4 balls. 162/5

19.1 A Mahmood to A McDonald, Drives it towards long on for a single. 161/5

Hmm.....164.....with McDonald, Gayle, Agarwal, Kohli, de Villiers, Tiwary.......Bangalore are still the favourites. But at least Mohali have got something to defend. Stay tuned for the run chase.

Bangalore were good with the ball for 75 percent of the innings, but they were taken aback by the blitz from Mahmood. 58/1 in the last 5 overs. Earlier, Andrew McDonald and Zaheer Khan bowled well upfront to pick up 2 wickets apiece with economical spells.

Not a bad finish by Mohali. They lost a couple of quick wickets early and then when Marsh, Hussey and Miller were fighting hard, Bangalore started to peg them back by picking up wickets at crucial times. But then, Azhar Mahmood came out and blasted the ball to all parts and took the target past 160, when at one stage, 140 was looking difficult. An unbeaten 33 from 14 balls, provided the tonic which the hosts badly needed.

19.6 V Kumar to P Chawla, Full and down the leg side, 109.1 kph, Chawla goes for a big hoick but gets a thick inside edge towards square leg. A single on the last ball. MOHALI FINISH ON 163/6! 163/6

19.5 V Kumar to P Chawla, Short on middle, 108.9 kph, Chawla pulls it over mid-wicket for a couple. The ball lands well short of the man in the deep. 162/6

What happened there? Chawla got across his sticks to play the paddle scoop and Vinay, on seeing that did not release the ball.

19.4 V Kumar to P Chawla, FOUR! That is very well played! Slower delivery, 109.4 kph, short in length, Chawla is early into the pull but adjusts well to drag it through square leg for a boundary! 160/6

19.3 V Kumar to A Mahmood, Full and in the blockhole, 132.5 kph, pushed towards long on for a single. 156/6

19.2 V Kumar to A Mahmood, SIX! Smash! That is as flat a hit you will ever see! Clears the ropes! Short outside off, Mahmood just stands back and deposits it over long off! 155/6

Piyush Chawla walks out at number 8, replacing Mandeep.

19.1 V Kumar to M Singh, OUT! Mandeep holes out in the deep. Full outside off, the slower delivery, Mandeep gets down and attempts to slog it through the line but gets more height than distance. Kohli at long off takes it without any fuss. For a change. Mandeep departs for 20, MOHALI 149/6 IN 19.1 OVERS! 149/6

Zaheer Khan to start off proceedings. Saini to face. All set! Here we go!

The players walk out to the middle. Paul Valthaty and Nitin Saini are the openers for Mohali. Remember, no Gilchrist today.

Mandeep Singh feels that they can win tonight and just have to go out there and play well. We have got some good players and David Hussey is a good captain. Feels that there is plenty of grass but is used to it as this is his home ground.

Mayank Agarwal gets ready for a chat. Says that it is a great weather and is amazing to be playing here. Feels confident and nice to be batting in the centre. On Gayle, he says that the star batsman does not say anything much but just that play your game, watch the ball and as you did it in practice, do it over here. No point in competing with Gayle in hitting the longest six, he laughs and says. Feels that Vettori has been a fantastic captain. Whenever the side has gone through tough times, he has been there to calm the players through. Feels that if Bangalore play well, they should win tonight. Adds that Kohli helps him a lot regarding the mental aspect of the game.

TOSS - Hussey spins the coin, Vettori calls Heads and it is a Head. BANGALORE WILL BOWL. Vettori says that the track has got a little bit in it, so hopes to make some use of it first up. Informs that Andrew McDonald comes in for Dilshan as the former's bowling suits this surface tonight. Feels that any score of under 150 would be good for his team. David Hussey says that his batsmen need to stand up tonight. Admits that he would have fielded as well because of the weather and hopes that Praveen Kumar will take some early wickets tonight.

Now it is the turn of Daniel Vettori to have a chat with Robin Jackman. Says that there is some general talk about the qualifiers in the dressing room about how you need to plan for every game but once you start playing, it is all about winning every match. On the pitch, he says that he watched it on TV and feels that it looks like there is some grass on it which is a surprise given that the pitches in India are usually slow and devoid of grass. Admits that the toss will be crucial.

Yes, it is David Hussey to lead the Mohali side tonight. He is having a chat with Ravi Shastri. Hussey says that it is the first time for him as a captain. Feels sorry for Gilchrist, as it is the first competitive game he is missing in 16 years due to injury. Says that it gives his team a chance to field in 3 debutants. Informs that Nitin Saini makes his debut while Azhar Mahmood and David Miller get a chance as well.

PITCH REPORT - There is plenty of grass on the surface and the seam bowlers should enjoy that.

WEATHER - Ravi Shastri at the ground said earlier that the ground staff were worried about the wind as it was blowing pretty heavily. They are expecting a thunderstorm of sorts. Hopefully, it stays away.

Hello and a warm welcome to Game 25 of the Indian T20 league between Mohali and Bangalore at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh! This is a battle of the back-markers with the sides being 7th and 8th on the points table respectively. Bangalore though, start off as favourites, simply because of the fact of their thrilling win over Pune and also because Mohali has been weakened by the loss of Adam Gilchrist who has still not recovered from his hamstring. Would be interesting to see who would captain the side, though ideally it should be David Hussey.
