Commentary (Kolkata Knight Riders innings)

Gautam Gambhir is named the Man of the Match. That's it from all of us then. There are two games tomorrow, so stay tuned for that. Till then from all of us, farewell!

Bisla comes down the track but cannot track the googly as it goes off the blade's edge. The ball sneaks in through and Gilchrist fumbles at the first attempt. In his second attempt, as the ball lobs up in front of the stumps, inspite of having a lot of time, he just flicks it towards the stumps and misses. Manvinder Bisla is the new man in at number 3.

5.5 P Chawla to B McCullum, OUT! Oh my. If any batsman would have wanted a delivery to fetch himself a boundary, this was it and McCullum gifts a wicket to a surprised Chawla. It was a poor long hop, 94.5 kph, the googly and going down the leg side. McCullum makes adjustment to pull it away but it does not come off cleanly and goes to Mascarenhas at short fine leg. What a pitiable wicket even as Piyush Chawla still cannot believe it, sitting crouched on the ground in disbelief with a giggle. 53/1

5.4 P Chawla to B McCullum, Comes down the track and gets it away straight to mid off. 53/0

4.4 P Kumar to G Gambhir, FOUR! The target is becoming too easy with the current scoring rate. Short of a length delivery, 131.2 kph, Gambhir latches onto it with a fierce cut. This time the man at third man has no chance. 43/0

4.3 P Kumar to G Gambhir, Length angled outside off, Gambhir scythes it away and it runs through in the gap for two. Bansal at third man comes around and does well. 39/0

"True KKR have messed up a few games in the past week, but winning this one seems a cinch -- unless there is lack of application", tweets Ayaz Memon, who clearly feels that this is going to be a one-sider.

3.4 H Bansal to G Gambhir, SIX! That's a phenomenal shot. Gambhir dances down the track and makes some room, but the ball lands in front of him on a full and he adjusts well to just flick it away. The ball has enough power to clear the mid-wicket ropes. 28/0

Commentary (Kings XI Punjab innings)

Kolkata will be mighty pleased with the efforts of their bowlers as they have restricted Mohali to a paltry total. The home side were going great guns in the initial overs but the injury to Gilchrist hampered the momentum. Marsh tried to resurrect the innings with a partnership with his countryman, Hussey but a controversial decision against him, followed by the wicket of Hussey pushed Mohali completely on the back foot. The innings never recovered after that and in spite of Gilchrist returning in the later stage, they failed to pile on a big total. Brett Lee and Sunil Narine were the pick of the bowlers with a couple of wickets apiece. Do join us in a while for the run chase...

19.6 S Narine to P Chawla, OUT! Bowled 'em! A perfect yorker, right in the blockhole at 109.8 kph, Chawla is a fraction late in bringing his bat down and the stumps are rattled. Mohali finish on 124/7! 124/7

19.5 S Narine to A Gilchrist, Tries to cut it to the off side but gets a bottom edge through keeper. They take a run. 124/6

19.4 S Narine to P Chawla, Chips it over the bowler's head for one. 123/6

19.3 S Narine to A Gilchrist, Driven through mid on by the batsman. They pick up a single. 122/6

19.2 S Narine to A Gilchrist, SIX! Biggie! A quicker delivery on middle and off, at 102.1 kph, Gilchrist swings his blade brutally and clears the long on fence with ease. 121/6

19.1 S Narine to P Chawla, Tickles a length delivery to the on side for one. 115/6

18.6 L Balaji to P Chawla, Drives it firmly to long off and crosses. 114/6

18.5 L Balaji to A Gilchrist, Pulls it to the on side for one. 113/6

18.4 L Balaji to P Chawla, Terrific awareness shown by McCullum! It was in the arc for the batsman and Chawla launches it down the track. It is destined to clear the long on fence but McCullum times his jump to perfection to take the catch but the backward momentum takes him beyond the ropes. The New Zealander smartly flicks it back in play (he was airborne) and saves five runs for his side. 112/6

18.3 L Balaji to P Chawla, Dropped! Foolish cricket, no calling from the two fielders and they drop a sitter. A well disguised slower delivery on middle, Chawla looks to heave it across the line and gets a leading edge. It lobs in the air, Bisla and Pathan emerge to take the catch but both fail to hold on and luckily didn't collide. The batsmen come back for the second. 111/6

18.2 L Balaji to A Gilchrist, Good stop. A fuller length delivery shaping away from the batsman, Gilchrist remains on the back foot and hits it firmly square of the wicket. That was traveling at a brisk pace and Narine at short third man got down in time to stop it with his left hand. The batsmen have run through for a single. 109/6

18.1 L Balaji to P Chawla, Good length delivery on middle, Chawla flicks across the line and takes a single at square leg. 108/6

Balaji is back on.

17.6 S Narine to P Chawla, A single down the ground at long on. 107/6

17.3 S Narine to P Chawla, Stays back and punches it to covers. 104/6

17.2 S Narine to A Gilchrist, Driven towards the mid off region. They pick up a single. 104/6

Piyush Chawla is the new batsman.

17.1 S Narine to P Dogra, OUT! Takes a wicket straightaway! Darts in quicker delivery, at 100.5 kph, outside off, Dogra aims for a massive heave across the line but his front foot slides a bit and he executes the shot off balance. The ball flies off the top edge and Kallis grabs a good catch at deep square leg by tumbling forward. 103/6

16.6 R Bhatia to P Dogra, Wide! Sliding down the leg side. 102/5

Adam Gilchrist returns after nursing his hammy!

16.5 R Bhatia to D Mascarenhas, OUT! Mascarenhas perishes in the deep. He looks to launch a fuller length delivery down the ground but Bhatia offers no pace to work with. The batsman has to generate all the power and he fails to get the desired muscle behind it. The ball balloons in the air and Tiwary takes a calm catch at long on. 101/5

16.4 R Bhatia to P Dogra, Goes back and punches it to covers for a single. 101/4

Time to get underway! The men concerned are marching out in the middle. Adam Gilchrist and Paul Valthaty are the openers for Mohali. Brett Lee has the new ball in his hands and he will steam in from the Shivalik End. What a contest we have on the cards, Lee vs Gilchrist!! All set! Let's play, says the umpire and here we go....

Kolkata - Brendon McCullum, Jacques Kallis, Gautam Gambhir, Manvinder Bisla, Manoj Tiwary, Yusuf Pathan, Debabrata Das, Brett Lee, Rajat Bhatia, Sunil Narine, Lakshmipathy Balaji.

Mohali - Adam Gilchrist, Paul Valthaty, Shaun Marsh, David Hussey, Mandeep Singh, Paras Dogra, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Piyush Chawla, Praveen Kumar, Bhargav Bhatt, Harmeet Bansal.

Toss - Adam Gilchrist flips the coin, Gautam Gambhir calls it incorrectly and MOHALI WILL BAT! They have made one change today, Paul Valthaty comes in place of Bipul Sharma. Gambhir says that he would have anyways bowled and also informs that Brendon McCullum and Brett Lee are back, replacing Ryan ten Doeschate and Shakib Al Hasan.

Warm welcome to all our viewers and thank you for tuning in to the coverage of Match 22 of the Indian T20 League between Mohali and Kolkata at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium. A couple of wins and the morale in the Mohali camp will be sky high and they would look to carry on with the winning momentum. Kolkata, on the other hand, have been pretty inconsistent in the tournament so far and would be hoping for an improved show today. It promises to be a close game and the wicket here at the PCA Stadium adds extra spice to the contest. Sit back and enjoy the commentary!
