Commentary (England innings)

That's it from us then! Series done and dusted for England and the next game would be the ideal one to test the bench strength. Pakistan will aim to avoid a whitewash and get something from this series. It would be played at this same venue, on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 1100 GMT (1630 IST). Hope for your company then. Thanks for a lot for being with us tonight. You can also catch all the action from the tri-series in Australia and the NZ-SA series in the interim. On behalf of the scorers and commentators, Good Bye! Take Care! Adios!

Victorious English captain Alastair Cook says that it is a great start when you chase a lowish total and adds that both he and Kevin did well to kick on after their starts. Praises his bowlers to restrict Pakistan to 220 which, he feels was way below par on this surface. On Broad's first over which went for 16, he says that it is important to keep your cool and his side did that. Hopes to seal the series 4-0 and is proud of his team for turning it around from the Test series. Adds that a lot of hard work has gone into it. On the final game, he says that tonight, they will enjoy and wishes his team would perform the same way in the next match.

Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq credits the English team for their superlative performance. Adds that the seamers are putting pressure on the Pakistani batsmen and the home side is crumbling. On their strategy today, Misbah says that the plan was to see off the first few overs and then consolidate, aiming to get 270 but could not do it. Says that cricket is all about pressure and wants his side to bat better in the next game. Forget this game and come back fresh for the final match.

KEVIN PIETERSEN HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Smiles on being asked about the century and says that most importantly, it is a series win away from home. On this knock, he adds that he has been getting out after making starts and with a little bit of fortune today, he was lucky to get to three figures. Admits that he was a bit more positive this evening, getting on to the front foot and playing his shots. Feels that he has not been able to crack the challenge of DRS yet.

Here are the wards - 1.BEST BOWLER MATCH AWARD - Steven Finn. 2.BEST PERFORMANCE AWARD - Alastair Cook. 3.MAXIMUM NUMBER OF SIXES AWARD - Umar Gul. 4.MAXIMUM BOUNDARIES AWARD - Kevin Pietersen 5.OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE OF THE MATCH AWARD - Alastair Cook.

111 is known to be unlucky for England, but today, Pietersen will take it. An unbeaten Nelson, taking his team to a convincing victory. Stay tuned for the presentation...... Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan tweets, "Great effort by England.. Cook looking like a true leader and delighted to see kevinpp24 back scoring A one day 100..."

The English bowlers did well earlier in the day, reducing Pakistan to 50/4 before Shafiq, Umar Akmal, Afridi and a cameo from Gul took the Asian giants to 222. The total gave Pakistan bowlers something to bowl at but an in-form Cook and a hungry-for-runs Pietersen were too much for Pakistan. The duo added 170 runs for the opening wicket and Morgan did the finishing job. Just the sole wicket for Pakistan and Ajmal had his name etched on it, getting the English skipper for 80.

The players shake hands and Kevin Pietersen raises his bat to one and all in the crowd. The entire dressing room stands up and applauds. All eyes were on Cook, who missed out on becoming the first English captain to score three ODI tons on the trot but it is Pietersen who has taken the honours with a brilliant century.

DRINKS BREAK. Just 49 needed from 20 overs to win for England. 9 wickets in hand. Should be an easy ride. Pakistan need to re-visit this scorecard if they are to create a miracle. On 15th October 1999, Sri Lanka were 157/1 in the 36th over chasing 197 for victory when Abdul Razzaq dismissed Kaluwitharana. That was the spark Pakistan needed as Razzaq went on to pick up a 5-wicket haul and end the match in a tie! Far-fetched or can they give a fight tonight?

Fantastic recovery by Pakistan to post a decent total on the board. At one stage they were reeling on 4/50 but a couple of crucial partnerships threaded by Umar Akmal saved the day for them.

Out come the English players on the field. Aleem Dar and Simon Taufel are the on-field officials. Kevin Pietersen tweeted a couple of hours ago, "Who's gonna eat the most sand today?? Players or spectators?? Unreal sandstorm here!!"

England - Alastair Cook(c), Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Ravi Bopara, Eoin Morgan, Craig Kieswetter(w), Samit Patel, Stuart Broad, Steven Finn, Graeme Swann, James Anderson.

Toss - Finally Misbah-ul-Haq has won the toss and he has no hesitation in batting first. First informs that Younus Khan is ill and he is replaced by Asad Shafiq while Adnan Akmal comes in place of Abdur Rehman. Further adds that they have a few plans for Cook and would look to execute it well. The English skipper says that he would have batted as well but now they would look to put pressure on Pakistan with the ball. He looks confident and hopes that they will keep up with the good performance. Informs that they are going in with the same playing XI.

Hello and a warm welcome to all our viewers and thank you for tuning in to the coverage of the third ODI between Pakistan and England at the Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium. The tourists already have an unassailable 2-0 in the 4-match series and would be aiming for a whitewash by maintaining the momentum. After a couple of poor shows, Pakistan, on the other hand, would love to come back to winning ways and get off the mark in the series.
