Commentary (Australia innings)

Surprising. Ian Bishop does not interview the winning captain George Bailey at all! Probably he thought that Watson is still the captain for Australia! Jokes apart, the Aussies were clinical in every department and outclassed the Windies. We now head to Barbados for the second and final T20I. That game starts at 1800 GMT (2330 IST) on Friday, 30th March, 2012. You can also catch all the action from the Sri Lanka-England Test series by surfing the tabs. Until then, on behalf of the commentators and scorers, Adios! Take Care!

SHANE WATSON HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that it was nice to put a complete game together, both personally and as a team. Also says that he was sort of thinking, 160-170 would have been a par score. Admits that his team knew that if Australia got a decent start, then 150 would have been pretty easy to chase. Is happy that the team did well with the ball today. Cheekily says that they were probably helped by the ball being changed. Pollard hit the ball over mid-wicket and chopped it over. And the ball was changed and started to reverse! Appreciates the big man doing that.

West Indies captain DARREN SAMMY says that at the start they were looking for something around 170 plus but Australia completely outplayed them today. Admits that his team did not bat well today and need to learn from these mistakes. Says that they have one more game in Barbados and hopes to do well there. Admits that the bowling attack lacked some firepower and hopes to have it in Barbados.

The bowling struggled today for the Windies, with the exception of Narine who was economical but went wicket-less. In reality, the home side did not put enough runs on the board. 150 on a good batting track was always going to be difficult to defend.

Comfortable win for Australia. They looked to be in a bit of trouble when they lost Warner in the first over and scored just 1 from the entire over but the 108-run stand between Watson and Michael Hussey literally took the game away from the hosts. After Watson departed, the finisher Hussey completed the last rites.

Commentary (West Indies innings)

It was touted to be a good pitch for batting but it seems to be on the slower side. Daniel Christian was the best bowler on show, with 3 wickets. Stay tuned for the run chase.

A competitive total posted by West Indies, thanks to Pollard's unbeaten 54 from 26 balls, 2 fours and 5 sixes. Starts at the top for the batsmen, none getting converted. Australia bowled well for 19 overs, apart from that one over which went for 22 from Xavier Doherty. And that could well turn out to be the difference between the two teams.

19.6 S Watson to G Mathurin, Full outside off, driven to cover for a run. WEST INDIES FINISH ON 150/7 IN 20 OVERS! 150/7

19.5 S Watson to K Pollard, Yorker on middle, driven to long on for a single. 149/7

Gary Mathurin comes out at number 9, replacing Baugh.

19.4 S Watson to K Pollard, OUT! Run out! Drama in the middle. Full on middle, 132 kph, driven down to long on for a run. He turns back for the second but completely loses his footing. He slips. The throw comes in to Watson who fumbles. Pollard desperately signals to Baugh to cross him, so that he can sacrifice his wicket. Watson takes the bails off and Baugh is short by miles. Watson, suddenly realizing that Pollard is going towards the other end, scores a direct hit at the striker's end and Pollard is short as well! Wade appeals for Pollard's wicket but it is Baugh who is dismissed. 148/7

19.3 S Watson to K Pollard, Yorker on leg stump, going down, 138.2 kph, Pollard swings and misses. 147/6

19.2 S Watson to C Baugh, Works it towards long on for a single. 147/6

19.1 S Watson to K Pollard, Yorker on middle, Pollard digs it out past the stumps. Wade dives to his left and stops it. They scamper for the single as Wade back-flicks it to Watson. Pollard jokes and comes back for the second and then goes back. Watson smiles. 146/6

Surprising. Ian Bishop does not interview the winning captain George Bailey at all! Probably he thought that Watson is still the captain for Australia!

The players are out in the middle! Brett Lee to start off the proceedings. Johnson Charles and Dwayne Smith are the openers. Charles to face. All set! Here we go!

West Indies - Sammy(c), Dwayne Bravo (vc), Baugh, Bonner, Darren Bravo, Charles, Mathurin, Narine, Pollard, Santokie and Dwayne Smith.

Australia - Warner, S.Watson, Wade(wk), M.Hussey, D.Hussey, Bailey(c), Christian, B.Lee, J.Pattinson, C.McKay and Doherty.

TOSS - Darren Sammy spins the coin, George Bailey calls and it is TAILS. WEST INDIES BAT. Sammy - Look to put a total and come back and defend it. We have some good hitters in the team and once we get a platform, we can launch towards the end. Andre Russell has been ruled out of the T20I series. He has damaged his hamstring. Unfortunate for us but chance for the other players to step up. Fidel Edwards and Marlon Samuels have been left out. Bailey - It is a great challenge for us and we are ready for it. We need to have good intensity throughout the game and any mistake the opposition makes, we need to pounce. James Pattinson comes into the side and we expect some bounce from him. Daniel Christian comes back as well.

WEATHER REPORT - It is a touch overcast at the moment but there are no predictions for rain.

Hello and a warm welcome to the first T20I between West Indies and Australia at St. Lucia! After a thrilling ODI series, we hope for a similar sort of contest in this T20I series. Who will prevail today? Sit back and enjoy as the action unfolds!
