Commentary (New Zealand innings)

Right! A thriller to end New Zealand's campaign in WT20 2012. They go back disappointed, could have easily been in with two wins in two Super Overs, but such is the nature of the game. Do not go anywhere, the Sri Lanka-England match coming up next...

SUNIL NARINE HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that it feels great when the captain trusts you and hands the responsibility during crunch times. Feels that this is a great win for the Windies and hopes that they get to play another game.

Victorious West Indian captain Darren Sammy cannot hide his glee still and is yet to recover his breath. Praises Narine and Samuels and adds that the latter is his go-to man in the death overs but he does not bowl much off late because of a bad shoulder. On being asked whether he will wait and watch the game between Sri Lanka and England or go to the hotel, he says that wherever they will be, they will be glued to the TV!

New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor says that it was a good game and the Kiwis should have won it without the Super Over. Credits the Windies for bouncing back superbly. Adds that he knew the writing was on the wall when Southee's first ball in the Super Over was hit for a six.

Ross Taylor set up the chase with a stunning batting display but then Southee bowled a poor first ball to help Gayle hit the first ball out of the park. The rest of the over was not that great either and the Windies cantered home. This loss to New Zealand means that they are gone out of the tournament while Sri Lanka are almost into the semi-finals, unless they lose pretty poorly to the Brits. Now, we await the second semi-finalist, which will be either of West Indies or England depending on the winner of Sri Lanka and England following right up.

Phew! The Windies are dancing in the isles and Sammy simply cannot hide his smile. They are jumping up and down and now Chris Gayle joins in the fun. What a game. Spare a thought for New Zealand, 2 Super Overs in this tournament, two losses. They cannot believe it.

Ball 5 T Southee to M Samuels, SIX! WEST INDIES WIN! Full toss on middle, Samuels gets across and just whips it over mid-wicket! The ball is going, going, going and eventually clears the man at deep mid-wicket! The Windies stay alive in this tournament!

Ball 4 T Southee to C Gayle, 1 RUN. Yorker length outside off, driven to long off for a single. WI 13/0 IN 0.4 OVERS, 5 NEEDED FROM 2 BALLS!

Ball 4 T Southee to C Gayle, WIDE! Too wide outside off, left alone, signalled a wide! WI 12/0 IN 0.3 OVERS, 6 NEEDED FROM 3 BALLS!

Ball 3 T Southee to M Samuels, 1 RUN. Length from Southee on middle, Samuels heaves it towards mid-wicket for a single. WI 11/0 IN 0.3 OVERS, 7 NEEDED FROM 3 BALLS!

Ball 2 T Southee to M Samuels, 2 RUNS. Yorker length on middle, Samuels whips it towards deep mid-wicket and comes back for the second. Almost gets a third as the fielder almost concedes an overthrow at the bowler's end. WI 10/0 IN 0.2 OVERS, 8 NEEDED FROM 4 BALLS!

Ball 1 T Southee to C Gayle, 1 RUN. Full outside off, Gayle goes hard and ends up slicing it behind point for a single. WI 8/0 IN 0.1 OVERS, 10 NEEDED FROM 5 BALLS!

Ball 1 T Southee to C Gayle, NO BALL! SIX! What a shot, first ball! Southee oversteps and bowls it full outside off, Gayle leans and sends this flying over long off! WI 7/0 IN 0 OVERS, 11 NEEDED FROM 6 BALLS!

We are all set now! Gayle to face Southee. 18 needed from 6 balls! Even 17 would do!

Right. Here come the batsmen. Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels. Tin Southee to bowl the over. If this Super Over is also tied, WEST INDIES WILL WIN by virtue of hitting more boundaries.

The Kiwis in a chat. James Franklin has the ball in his hand as of now. But he is involved in a chat with his skipper. We still await the West Indies' line-up.

Kiwis have posted 17 runs from the super over thanks to some brilliant hitting from Taylor. The Windies missed out a trick in not bowling Narine which might cost them. It would be a daunting task for the Windies but with Gayle in their ranks, you never know. Stay tuned for New Zealand's reply.

Ball 6 M Samuels to R Taylor, 2 RUNS. Yorker fired outside off, Taylor jams it towards long on and takes on the quick Pollard and makes it for the second in time. NEW ZEALAND FINISH ON 17/0!

Ball 5 M Samuels to R Taylor, SIX! That is outta here! Full outside off, Taylor gets down and slog sweeps it mightily over mid-wicket! Crucial strike! NZ 15/0 IN 0.5 OVERS!

Ball 4 M Samuels to R Taylor, FOUR! Down the leg side, Taylor gets down and paddles it over short fine leg! Valiant effort from the fielder in the deep but the ball wins. NZ 9/0 IN 0.4 OVERS!

Ball 3 M Samuels to B McCullum, 1 RUN. Pushes this past the bowler for a single. NZ 5/0 IN 0.3 OVERS!

Ball 2 M Samuels to R Taylor, LEG BYE. Down the leg side, 124.4 kph, Taylor misses his flick. Gets hit on the pads, LBW appeal not given, missing the leg stump. NZ 4/0 IN 0.2 OVERS!

Taylor is not impressed with the substitute fielder Simmons being out on the field!

Ball 1 M Samuels to R Taylor, 2 RUNS. Full toss on middle, Taylor gets across and paddle scoops it over short fine leg and comes back for the second. A better throw would have had him.

Ball 1 M Samuels to R Taylor, WIDE! Fast and down the leg side, Taylor misses his flick. NZ 1/0 IN 0 OVERS!

We are all set for the Super Over then! Ross Taylor to take strike... Here we go!

Right! Marlon Samuels to bowl the Super Over! Ross Taylor is frantically waving at his team-mates in the dressing room because the second batsman has not walked out! Finally Brendon McCullum joins his skipper. We are not quite sure who will be the third batsman. The West Indies in a team chat here...

As per the rules, the team chasing will be batting first in the Super Over, so New Zealand will have to set a target. Three batsmen and one bowler will contest along with 9 fielders and a keeper. Sammy is checking out the box of balls brought out by the fourth umpire. England will be happy with the Super Over but they will want New Zealand to win this...

Good bowling from West Indies but poor batting from New Zealand, they were in the game for the major part but lost the plot in the death overs. Taylor played a brilliant innings, while Narine was at his best for the Windies.

We are in for a Super Over folks! New Zealand probably missing a golden opportunity to win this game and West Indies will surely consider themselves as favourites here. Second Super Over for New Zealand in this tournament and they will look to erase what happened against Sri Lanka in their first match of the Super Eights.

19.6 M Samuels to D Bracewell, OUT! Run out! Brilliant direct hit from Smith (sub) ! We have a super over here! Low full toss on middle, Bracewell flicks it to mid-wicket, they complete a single and go for a second. Smith runs in from deep mid-wicket and hurls in a flat throw which knocks down the stumps at the striker's end. Taylor is found way short. Bracewell stuttered midway during the first run and that might have caused him to slow down on the second. Nevertheless we have a super over! 139/7

19.5 M Samuels to R Taylor, Quicker and flatter yorker on middle, Taylor gets an inside edge onto his pads. The ball rolls over to short third man for a single. 2 needed ff the last delivery now! 138/6

Drama! Samuels comes forward to bowl but does not release the ball! Tactics!

Oh dear... teapots are boiling out there. Sammy, Gayle and Samuels involved in the discussion. Probably Samuels wants fine leg back and Sammy is angrily saying something, to which Samuels responds in even more anger!

19.4 M Samuels to R Taylor, SIX! Brilliant improvisation! A killer blow! Fullish on middle, quicker and flatter, Taylor shuffles across and paddle scoops it over fine leg for a maximum. 3 needed off 2 now! 137/6

19.3 M Samuels to R Taylor, Very full on middle, Taylor drills it wide of long on for a quick couple. 131/6

19.2 M Samuels to R Taylor, Flicks it to short fine leg where Narine misfields and they take two. 129/6

19.1 M Samuels to R Taylor, Again quicker and flatter on off, driven straight back to Samuels! Dot ball! 127/6

19.1 M Samuels to R Taylor, WIDE! Darts in a flatter and quicker delivery down the leg side, Taylor looks to flick but misses. Ramdin whips off the bails in the flash but Taylor's foot was in! 127/6

What is going on out there? Sammy, Russell and Samuels in a three-way chat. Sammy tosses the ball to Russell who throws it to Samuels. Samuels, on the other hand, throws it back to Russell again! No one wants to bowl it seems! Ahhh... the captain takes the decision. It will be Marlon Samuels to bowl. 14 needed for New Zealand for a win, 13 for a Super Over. Three men on the leg side.

18.6 S Narine to R Taylor, Pats it to point and takes a single to keep the strike. Brilliant over from Narine, just 3 runs and a wicket off it! 14 runs needed off the last over now! 126/6

Sammy runs over for a chat with his bowler... one ball left in this over.

18.5 S Narine to R Taylor, Play and a miss! Rocks back and looks to cut but misses. 125/6

18.4 S Narine to R Taylor, Shuffles across and looks to flick but mistimes it straight back. The non-striker is half way down but gets back in time as Taylor sends him back. 125/6

If Ross Taylor gets out in this over, then West Indies will be well and truly favourites. New Zealand need to get this to the last over...

Doug Bracewell walks out at number 8, replacing Nathan McCullum. 15 needed from 9 balls.

18.3 S Narine to N McCullum, OUT! McCullum holes out! Length delivery outside off at 95.4 kph, McCullum gets down on one knee and goes for a heave, doesn't connect it well and helps it straight into the hands of Charles at deep mid-wicket. Crucial breakthrough for the Windies but they need to get the dangerman, Taylor, now! 125/6

4th T20I Fifty for Ross Taylor, second against West Indies!

18.2 S Narine to R Taylor, Fifty up for Taylor! Shuffles across and flicks it to deep square leg for a single. A brilliant innings under pressure so far! 125/5

18.1 S Narine to N McCullum, Gets down on one knee and reverse sweeps it to short third man for a single. 124/5

Right. Narine to bowl the 19th. Big moment in this game. Nathan McCullum is not picking up Narine at all and the Kiwis need to score at nearly 9 runs an over. The first couple of balls will decide the outcome of this over and the match... Narine wants a slip but Sammy is worried about the boundary and does not give in.

17.6 R Rampaul to N McCullum, Low full toss on middle, McCullum mistimes his heave to mid-wicket for just a single. 17 needed off 12 balls now! 123/5

17.5 R Rampaul to N McCullum, Very full outside off, McCullum squeezes it past point , Russell does well in the deep to restrict the batsmen to a couple. 122/5

A long chat between the batsmen. Nathan McCullum was looking very animated out there, probably giving some ideas to Ross Taylor and eventually, both were nodding their heads in unison.

17.4 R Rampaul to R Taylor, Full length delivery outside off, drilled to long off for one. 120/5

If West Indies have to win tonight, they need to get the wicket of Ross Taylor here. On the other hand, this is the best over for New Zealand to attack.

17.3 R Rampaul to R Taylor, Fullish outside off, Taylor drives it sweetly past extra cover for a couple. 119/5

17.2 R Rampaul to N McCullum, Length delivery outside off, McCullum stays back and pushes it to point. 117/5

17.1 R Rampaul to R Taylor, Wide outside off, Taylor slaps it to deep point for a single. 116/5

Rampaul into the attack now.

16.6 S Narine to N McCullum, Beaten! It straightens after landing outside off, McCullum goes for a poke but misses. 25 needed off 18 balls now! 115/5

The English side are sitting as a tensed bunch in their dressing room. Keenly watching the proceedings out here. They too, would be supporting the Kiwis here. A win for the Black Caps sends West Indies out of the tournament meaning that if England win against Sri Lanka, they need not be worried about the net run-rate and qualify into the semis along with the hosts.

16.5 S Narine to N McCullum, Gets down on one knee for a sweep but inside edges it onto his pads. 115/5

Nathan McCullum comes in to bat at number 7 and his team is at a precarious stage here.

16.4 S Narine to J Oram, OUT! Oram is bamboozled by the straighter one! Length delivery on middle at 97.0 kph, it straightens after landing. Oram has no clue and looks to prod it into the ground but misses. The ball hits the pad and the players appeal. The umpire lifts his finger. 25 needed off 20 balls now! 115/5

Commentary (West Indies innings)

Right! A thriller to end New Zealand's campaign in WT20 2012. They go back disappointed, could have easily been in with two wins in two Super Overs, but such is the nature of the game. Do not go anywhere, the Sri Lanka-England match coming up next...

A good performance from the Kiwis to restrict the Windies to 139! Bracewell and Southee picked up three wickets apiece and the spinners bowled a disciplined spell in the middle. Gayle was going berserk at the start but Southee removed him in the 7th over. The men from Caribbean never got the momentum going from then on and Pollard's scratchy 28 off 22 powered them to some decency in the end. It still could turn out to be a tricky chase of the Kiwis, join us in a while for their reply.

19.3 J Oram to S Badree, OUT! Windies bowled out for 139! Slower delivery on off at 104.0 kph, Badree looks to turn it to the leg side but gets an inside edge onto the stumps. 139/10

19.2 J Oram to S Badree, How did that miss the stumps? Slower delivery on middle, Badree shuffle across for a flick and misses. The ball flies over the middle stump. 139/9

19.1 J Oram to R Rampaul, Nips back in after landing outside off, Rampaul misses his flick and they run through for a leg bye. 139/9

Chris Gayle and Johnson Charles are the two batsmen at the crease. Kyle Mills will start off proceedings for New Zealand.

The players have made their way out to the middle for the national anthems.

New Zealand - Martin Guptill, Rob Nicol, Brendon McCullum(Wk), Ross Taylor(C), Jacob Oram, James Franklin, Nathan McCullum, Doug Bracewell, Tim Southee, Kyle Mills, Ronnie Hira.

West Indies - Johnson Charles, Chris Gayle, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Darren Sammy(C), Denesh Ramdin(Wk), Sunil Narine, Ravi Rampaul, Samuel Badree.

Toss - New Zealand have won the toss and elected to field. Two changes for them as Ronnie Hira replaces injured Daniel Vettori and Jacob Oram comes in place of Kane Williamson. Two changes for West Indies too as Samuel Badree replaces Fidel Edwards, Dwayne Bravo is injured and is replaced by Darren Bravo.

Pitch - There are a few cracks but it looks a belter. The track might assist turn as the day progresses.

It's a do or die match for both the teams, The Kiwis have lost both their Super Eight matches and they stand a very small chance of qualifying, still hoping that the other result goes their way even if they win. West Indies, on the other hand, need a win in order to stand a chance to qualify and hope that Sri Lanka defeat England later on today. A cracker of a contest is definitely on cards.

Hello and welcome to the coverage of the Super Eight match between West Indies and New Zealand in Pallekele.

18.3 Tim Southee to S Narine, OUT! Castled! 3rd wicket for Southee and he's mixing it up well here! Slower delivery on off, Narine waits and then goes for a pull, completely misses it. The ball sneaks through and rattles the timber. The Windies in danger of getting bowled out here! 136/9

18.2 Tim Southee to S Badree, Short outside off, Slashed to point for a single. 136/8

18.1 Tim Southee to S Narine, Goes for a heave but inside edges it onto his pads, They run through for a single. 135/8
