New Delhi: Star all-rounder Andrew Flintoff's absence proved to be a dampener for England as they now trail India 0-1 in the three-match Test series, with the final Test to be played at the Oval. But he seems to be on the road to recovery.
Flintoff, who suffered a recurrence of an ankle injury during the series preceding against the West Indies, returned to first-class cricket for Lancashire, though he could only participate with the bat. Continue reading below
And, according to reports in the BBC, Flintoff has started bowling at the nets, aiming to return for the One-Dayers against India starting on August 21.
Chief of selectors of the English side David Graveney told BBC that Flintoff is targetting an ODI return after a third ankle surgery.
"He's started to bowl in nets. It's great that he's back playing after another lengthy rehab," he said.
"As far as I'm aware—and I'm sure Freddie will confirm together with the medical advice from Lancashire—he's still on target for the one-dayers," he added.
