Dravid''s concern for his bowlers, if true, was misplaced. He has to decide between being a good guy and a good captain.Since he can''t help being a good guy he has to give up the captaincy in favour of not such a good guy who would take tough decisions for the sake of the side. Yuvraj or Zaheer are the tough guys we need for captaincy. In the meantime Dravid should fight for a place in the test team.

"Dravid should fight for a place in the test team" how stupid. After a good performance Zaheer is simply trying for some stupid stunts, if he was fully fit why did he need a straping on the legs and why was he bowling at almost half the pace. COMMON Zaheer enough of this publicity stunds.

If Zaheer was not tired than he why was his speed down in the second innings. He was plastered on his thighs, something the cameras showed clearly. If he has bowled slowly just to spike Dravid then it is time Zaheer be dropped for insubordination.

Zaheer is clearly showing that he is not a team player. how can he put his captain on show like that no matter what the circumstances????

Ill sum it up in 8 words: "DRAVID SHOULD HAVE ASKED ENGLAND TO FOLLOW ON" Also the way Rahul batted, consuming 96 balls in his painstakingly slow innings, i think he was just playing for a draw - what a shame. A captain should lead by example - TO WIN not to draw :( Take his chances always. What a pity he will be captaining the one day side.

If Enland was made to follow-on they would have got more overs to bat and could have reached 500 runs (you must have seen how Indian bowlers except sreesanth bowled on a 5th day wicket after getting enough rest) and India would have surely struggled to save the match on 5th day. Open your eyes Wake up!We just won the series in Westindies and England. You may hate Dravid for overshadowing your favourite (who ever he may be),But you can''''t deny the fact, that he did achieve more than the previous captains bar Wadekar.

You are the one who needs to wake up buddy. "He did achieve more than the previous captains" My foot !!! Beating a half-strength England is an accomplishment ?? Dravid showed extreme cowardice by not enforcing the follow on. And 5 runs in 80-90 balls ?? What was he trying to do ? The situation demanded that we score quickly and what does your great captain do ? He simply crawls before he realises that he has done enough to s***w our chances of a victory !!! Dravid might be your favourite - for whatever reasons -- but don''t close your eyes and ignore facts.

This is not the first time. 1999 Against NZL at Ahmedabad, Sachin the captain, Kapil the coach. India had a lead of 275 and just about 4 sessions left in the match. Match ended in a draw. Reason given for not enforcing follow on, "Bowler Tired". Every time we go to NZL, we are thrashed by them, we don''t even come close to winning a single match for that matter any tour match. and when we had a chance of paying back, we say "Bowlers are too tired". Tired of winning!!!!!!! 2004, Sydney. Sourav and Wright were there. lead of about 230 and 5 sessions. Match drawn. Are we too tired after winning a match to win another one!!! Every time we go to SA,NZL,AUS,ENG we loose and we even lost the 2nd match to ZIM at harare after winning 1st game. Here we are playing well, everybody in form, then why not keep going victories as long as this form is there. You never know what will happen, when we tour ENG next time. May be we will be desparate to play for a draw as we would not be winning and still keep loosing...

I have agree 100% with Abdul. Is India tired of winning?? That was a shameful display not forcing follow-on. Even if England made 400, that was only another 100 runs to win!!
Indian batting can''t do that..? If that''s the case they should not be playing test-match!!
Dravid degraded himself and whole team. He also insulted cricket-fans of India.
If this kind of thing happened before people would suspect match-fixing. Why not now..?

If you think England would have scored 450 while following ON, then why can''t they score 500 going by the same logic( I know you will then talk about runrate, pressure in 4th inngs blah blah...) OK. Here is a simple mathematics and common sense. Suppose ENGLAND would have followed ON. Suppose they also score 450. How many overs they would have taken? I guess atleast 130 overs. So How many overs would India would have had to Bat in the 4th Inngs? About 40 Overs (170 - 130). So India would have had a TARGET of about 130 in about 40 overs. OK. Accepted that India (or Any country) is very bad in 4th Inngs for getting even such low targets. BUT, If while chasing 130 they loose wickets in hurry, then they always have the option of playing out a draw.

"Can''t Play for a draw..."
We India was not confortable in chasing 130 odd runs in about 30 overs.
They could have played out 30 overs...
And if you say they can''t play out 30 overs, then you are kidding, even Bermuda could have played out 30 overs.

Do you know how many test matches we have won abroad? Its not even 30. we can count those victories on fingers. So you can understand how important each and every single match means. Ok. Great that we are winning the series. But don''t forget when India comes next time to England they might not get such a easy chance to force a win. How can you forget, that each time we go to Australia, we are thrashed almost 3-0, We go to SA and get thrashed, just 1 test win SA. Do you remember when was the last time we won a test match in New Zealand? All these years we have been loosing test matches. Even England drew the series last year in mumbai. Here you are getting a golden opportunity to remove the scar of all those defeats. and you are letting it go.

When Indians came to bat again in second innigs, I wanted to pull my hair. Hope Dravid has not fixed this match. Bowlers were ready to bowl; that means Dravid''s intentions were not Good. Dravid should be punished for this. Any one who do not play for my country is my enemy no.1.
( Posted: Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 18:27 )
Correct.
But this is not for the first time.
1999. Sachin/Kapil.
2004. Sourav/Wright.
Same excuse given. "Bowlers Tired"...
How can they be tired of winning. A test victory is far far more important than winning even 5 ODIs.
I think there is a mindset change after winning just 1 match. They start thinking we are a great team, we have won enough matches, now we can afford to play few draws or even lose.
But Hardly 30 wins have come in last 75 years playing abroad. Just goes to show how each test win is improtant irrespective of last match win.

AGREE 100 % ,WHETHER FIXED OR NOT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED . Couple of crores ..for not enforcing FOLLOW ON ..EXCELLENT . Check up with Tendulkar and other seniors if it was a TEAM DECISION or Dravid / Pawar / Vengsarkars Decision . Why dont we SELL our Country To BOOKIES . Team should go and watch Chak DE india .
