• Herschelle Gibbs (58) made his highest score in the IPL. His previous highest was 47 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Hyderabad in 2008.

• Deccan Chargers managed just 43 runs losing 7 wickets in their last 7 overs. Similarly Mumbai Indians managed only 24 runs in their first five overs after the strategy time-out.

• Lasith Malinga's three wickets in the match took his tally of wickets to 6 to come at par with RP Singh. However, RP moved ahead as soon as in his first over dismissing Sanath Jayasuriya.

• RP Singh bowled the third foot-fault no-ball in the tournament (third ball of his third over). JP Duminy hit a four off the free-hit.

• The second wicket partnership of 82 between Sachin Tendulkar and Duminy is the highest for this wicket in the tournament. The pair surpassed the 61-run stand between Herschelle Gibbs and Dwayne Smith earlier in the match.

• The above partnership is also Mumbai's highest in all IPL games, bettering the unbroken 76-run partnership between Jayasuriya and Robin Uthappa against Chennai at Mumbai WS in 2008.

• The wicket of Harbhajan Singh put RP Singh at level with Shane Warne among the bowlers with maximum wickets in all IPL matches. This was his 23rd wicket in 17th IPL game.

• The 14 sixes in the match are the second best effort in this edition of the IPL. The Deccan Chargers–Royal Challengers Bangalore match at Cape Town produced 16 sixes.

• Mumbai's defeat means there are only two undefeated sides left in the tournament – Deccan Chargers have won all their three matches, while Delhi Daredevils have won their two.

• Pragyan Ojha won his maiden man of the match award in his 16th IPL match.
