"For the sum of USD 40000, a mere 0.001 per cent of the IPL's declared turnover of USD 2.4 billion, the company who has the tender to sell alcohol at the Wanderers - Events Management - will be allowed to provide thirsty spectators with their tipple," 'SuperSport.com' reported.

The IPL's insistence has apparently not gone down too well with the local cricket administrators, many of whom reportedly stayed away from the match between Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings Saturday night in protest.

"Some senior Gauteng Cricket Board executives decided to stay away from the Wanderers in protest, after the IPL, with the tacit approval of Cricket South Africa, threatened to ban the sale of all alcohol at the stadium unless the pouring fee was paid," the report stated.

The website said that the liquor suppliers, who barely manage any profit even under normal circumstances, will have to sell at least 7,000 drinks per game during the eight matches here to break even after being burdened by the pouring charge.
