Thank you Sandeepji, for you agreed that F50 is alltogether a different ball game.If you take a close look at the series, we had a bad match in Baroda while Aussies had it in Mumbai, we had a good match at Chandighar and they had one at Hyderabad, Nagpur was close one if Sreesanth had not dropped Hayden..., and at Kochi after winning the toss India elected to field looking at the weather, if we had batted the result would have been 3-3. And there are few tactical errors made by Rajput and Dhoni too. The battting order-Dhoni henceforth should play anchor role at 4 and concentrate more on consolidating innings and provide solidarity. He is capable of it and he should do it and should stop playing cameo roles. One way to achieve that is to think "personal records are important in a crickter''s career ala Sachin. The bowling order- after Srinath and Kumble we never had a long term prospect and so we dont have any or two permanent bowlers. It is a cause of deep concern and it weakens our bowling. In this contest we should have a good bowling coach like Akram, Fenil De Villiers, Vanburn Holder or Hadlee on a long term basis.

Once again the T20 win has started this unnecessary debate, about the Big Three. The funny part is even former cricketers are getting drawn into this and are suggesting that we bid goodbye to the Big Three. Look at the performance against Australia and only Sachin looked like he can handle pressure when the ball is doing things. Rahul and Sourav need to be spoken to, about their future in the one day side. Let us not have a situation like in Mumbai where Rahul eas ''rested. They deserve better treatment than this. Apart from Uthappa to an extent no other youngster looks ready to take over. Gambhir in the 50 over format rarely gets going against the good teams. In the shorter format where you are licensed to go hammer and tongs, the concentration span is less, these guys do well. Like Sandeep says do not read too much into the T20 win. The series against Pakistan can be used to bring in some youngsters. Let us be prepared to lose a few matches and not boo the team if they lose. The Seniors can be rotated.Rohit Sharma, Bhadrinath can be tried. Gambhir can be given a couple of chances to open. If he doesn''t get going, bad luck. He has got enough chances in ODIs.

forget about the big3 let us concentrate on the small 8 after all it is a tem game with 11 players and not 3 players....so wat can 3 players do if 8 others dont perform...alternatively we can have the big 3 in the team and call tht team india...the balance can warm the bench..that way whenever we lose we will be justified in calling for the big3s dismissal...reminds me of alice in wonderland and the queen of diamonds who keeps chanting "off with their heads" at all times quite like the indian supporter egged on by the media.....

Swati..I agree with ur point. But how can we make the selectors realise this?
It''s something very important that they should have this thought in mind while selecting the 11 for upcoming series.

We have to make a move on ODI team. I still think Dravid has a role to play in TESTs. Sachin can play ODI because he brings his bowling as well. Other than sachin , BCCI should drop dravid and ganguly for ODIs. The issue facing BCCI and selectors is how to use ganguly in Tests. Because he will take away either yuvi or VVS laxman spot. My problem with indians is this. They care only about statistics not winning or losing. To replace ganguly , we need another bengali to replace his spot. Without that it is impossible to drop ganguly. Easy to drop sachin and dravid because there is no one go nuts about them as much as bengali goes nuts about ganguly. If i am dhoni , i will put ganguly where he fails often , to get rid of him. That is the only way. Make him field in the boundary and make him run. India can''t carry BIG 3 forever. It almost seems like BCCI do not have guts to drop big 3. T20 reminds us that youth can brings new energy and sky is the limit. When you give oppurtunities to young generation , they succeed more often than fail.

I don''t understand why are Indians so complacent. There is no reason why we should be ''carried away'' when we have lost the series. Remember we have lost the series 4-2. People are talking as if we won the series.

Excellent Article again! Agree totally with Sandeep patil''s view of having a settled team .. Batting Order .. Bowling Order .. Fielding order.. etc.. Inconsistency with the bowlers is more of a concern than the batsmen .. this needs to be ironed out...

Why cannot we have Sandeep Patil as the next Indian coach?

Sreesanth should take note of the fact that he gets his wickets from his superb seam position, speed and outswing. He succeeded in South Africa bcoz he kept everything simple. Now his mind is often cluttered and he is unable to focus on the task he is entrusted with. Sandip Patil should have been bigger than Gavaskar and Vishy. I remember fondly as a young kid reading abt his exploits against Lille and Pascoe and co, when the others struggled. Even now everyone will have deep pangs of sorrow when they think abt Sandip. Hope Sree learns from what happened to some of his talented predecessors.
