Mumbai: The Indian cricket team returned from the tour of England earlier on Monday, the members who will not be playing the Twenty20 World Championships that start on Tuesday.
The team members were escorted by policemen at the airport as the team returned amid tight security.
India had won the Test series against England 1-0, but lost the One-day series 4-3.
Meanwhile, all five members of the South Africa-bound Indian team also left for the ICC Twenty20 Championships.
The group of players who left last night included Virender Sehwag and Irfan Pathan, alongwith new team manager Lalchand Rajput.
Meanwhile, batsman Virender Sehwag is keen on making an impact in the tournament, and regain his place in the national side.
"I believe that I'm getting another opportunity to get back into the side. I'm not worried about Twenty20 or whatever because if I'm opening the batting, 20 overs is enough for me to perform. So, I'm looking forward to another opportunity to get back into the side," Sehwag said before departing for South Africa.
