Hyderabad: Many feared when the India-Australia series began that the acrimony of the previous contest between the two teams will spill over this time around too. And though things didn't get as bad as Sydney in Bangalore but its clear that the teams will neither back down from a battle on the field nor off it.
Man of the Match -- Zaheer Khan first took a swipe at the Australians, which drew a curt response from Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting.
"Aussies always talk about maintaining the run-rate of four per over but where was all that?," asked Zaheer, adding, "They (Aussies) know that they cannot take our twenty wickets and they are on the back foot. They couldn't get me and Bhajji out. What else do you want? So, we are here for a big chance in this series. And we know that they are under pressure. So, we are just looking ahead at the second game now."
Zaheer was man of the match in Bangalore for bowling as well as batting with fire. He alongwith Harbhajan Singh led a lower-order rescue act.
But that wasn't all Zaheer did. He ruffled some Aussie feathers too. He got involved in a heated exchange with Brad Haddin and then said that Australia weren't the Australia of old.
To which Ponting replied, "To tell you the truth, I don't know what he has meant. We just want to try and take the game forward. We play aggressive cricket and it didn't mean too much to us."
With two teams playing hard for the right to be called the Test champions of the world, the next few weeks will be as much a test of patience as of skills.
