hi readers, i am a great follower of indian cricket, but make no mistake there is lot of politics.nobody is worried about the talent in the country and old guards like saurav&tendulkar just wants to make more money by averaging 30s&40s and the new guys who are playing along with them see that as a way rather then adopting a team culture and playing for the country & keeping the faith of the supporters, who without them would be just an ordinary person in India i liked the article of lisle in cricinfo who said that the big four batting was a joke against a second grade bowling attack without harmison/hoggard/flintoff and its time for retrospection if kartik can play a decent innings then i believe there are cricketeers in india who are determined to battle it out in the middle and well they might loose but still we are looking towards the future so board of cricket stop ur politics and get down to some serious retrospection, world cup was a farce and we have to look ahead now thanks steele/indian supporter

Someone needs to tell Lord Chesterfield that Srilanka''s so called new found "greatness" is solely due to one and only one reason - Muralidharan. Take this man out of the team and the Sri Lankan edifice starts to look pretty ordinary. While the Indian cricket organization certainly needs an overhauling, tghe current sorry state of affairs can be attributed to one simple fact...the aging of the top 5 players - Dravid, Sachin, Ganguly, Laxman, and Kumble. Yes, India have failed to bring able replacements for these but it will happen. I am eagerly waiting for the post Ponting-Gilchrist-Warne-Symonds Australia. It too will look pretty ordinary. Indian cricket is going through a lean phase and it is bound to come up

Yes i agreed with him. He is right PCB AND BCCI are all politics nothing else. until we have politics in both cricket boards we will remain behind SL. We should give opportunities to youth and we should kick out Yonis/Yousaf/Afridi from Pakistani Team and Dravid/tendulkar/Gangully from India team. Also stop politics games in Cricket board.

Its a SHAME on the way BCCI is administering cricket in INDIA.Its high time indian cricket needs some body with a clear VISION to run the board unlike these ignorant souls. All ardent fans of this great game should work out something to make things better.

How typical . . . people like fhh come along and make themselves look utterly stupid by ignoring facts and hiding behind selection flaws. Look at the current Test at Lord''s. Where are India with all their batting experience against this England side of average bowlers? Sunny must be cringing. - EJL

I think to say Indian cricket team is way behind Srilankan cricket team is way behind good thinking, because starting from 2005 till date Srilanka has never won any series against India and has even done badly in all the series, for your remembrance Srilanka has lost a test match series against India in 2005 2 to 0, a match was washed out then it lost a one day series 6 to 1 then recently it has lost a one day series 3 to 1 just before the world cup. The problem With any Indian team is very simple "we are not a good sporting country, our parents don''t encourage sports" that filters down to cricket, that is all i have got to say.

Sri Lanks may not have done exceptionally well against India in recent times, but they went to the Finals of the worldcup from the same group to which India belonged. The India team was prety much the same from the previous worldcup, but only thing was, leadership was not valued by anyone who were supposed to be responsible. Firstly, a hardcore politician was leading the scene, then a foul-mouthing coach was freely moving his card seeking more attention than the players themselves, a captain who behaved like an attender and not a leader, a few Indidivual ambitions of some of the top players, and high headed complacency. Such a setup is born to lose.

Indian team for ages is like this, we will never see daylight until we encourage eyesight, we in this country have a responsibility to play sports, tell me Rahul Dravid would have made a bad Australian caption or Greg Chappel would have made a bad coach of present Australian team or for that matter any successful team, the lines are on wrong direction, i feel our focus should be on our society on encouraging sports in this country, by doing this we will develop sports knowledge, by knowledge cricketers will become wise to play domestic cricket on sporting wicket and lot more kids actively participating in wide variety of sports that will encourage people to come and watch all domestic spots, then we will win the world cups of all sports. It is that simple, all you have to do is to ask your kid to participate in any sport or for good sports and take time to appreciate that.

I think Trevor has got it right and it is an eye opener, espically his observation on Sharad Pawar and his ability to goveren as ICC head comparing to the strugle as Prez of BCCI

Its a shame. Atleast before you made a public comment you should have atleast checked who Trevor is. In my opnion he is the best cricket writer available today. And what he has said is true. how can Powar be sooo lazy and easy going about Indian cricket ??? if he wants to be the president let him quit politics and be a full time president (dont think I am a dalmia supporter, and I am not from culcutta). But dalmia may have been corrupt or partial but he knew what he was doing.

Hey who is this guy sudarshan . . . Where has he been hiding all these years? TC, if I may be so bold to call him that, has been writing on Asian affairs for a decade or more; he has written books about the game as well as seeing Sir Donald and Lord Hutton along with some Indian greats and is a great India fan as well. But you don''t know even that simple fact
