New Delhi: Teams have started to arrive in South Africa for the Twenty20 World Championships. Australia have arrived without their skipper Ricky Ponting while the West Indies according to a lot of people are the dark horses for the tournament.
Over the last decade or so, Australia have been virtually unbeatable in both Test and one-day cricket. Now the challenge of a third version of the game beckons. And not surprsingly, they are upbeat about this one too.
"I think everyone will get pretty serious about it. Everyone will try and win every game and win the tournament. But I just hope that the entertainment factor stays there, because that's what is so appealing about this game," says Australian vice-captain Adam Gilchrist.
While Australia are waiting to find out if their skipper Ricky Ponting will be available, West Indies have arrived in full strength. Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan has recovered from injury and expects his team to be in contention.
"I think we have a great opportunity to play well. I think it is very important that we play well as a team and hopefully we'll be able to do something spectacular," Sarwan says.
The West Indies get the tournament underway with a game against South Africa next Tuesday.
