Bad light plays spoiler; India bag series

Indian captain Anil Kumble showed there was no substitute for Test cricket when he took his team towards victory in the third and final Test against Pakistan. The leg-spinner bagged his 34th five-wicket haul in the last session as bad light forced a draw at the Chinnaswami Stadium on Wednesday. Set a target of 374, Pakistan limped to 162-7 in 36 overs in their second innings as Kumble did most of the damage to the delight of his home crowd. Read The Article

C.K. RAWAT	The delay on the part of Anil Kumble in declaring India’s second innings of the third Test match at Bangalore was timorous, to say the least. A rare opportunity to win a Test match against Pakistan was allowed to slip away. We can now comfortably sit back and rue it. It can be argued that the Indian captain wanted to secure the Test series first. But, cricket is not all about winning series. We should play each match to win it. Milind	Hey Arvin what did he get by playing for the team nothing, when he became the captain and was scoring runs he was abused and insulted and when he relinquished captaincy what he got, he was dropped from the odi squad.If this is what you get for playing for the team then it is better to play for yourself.Tomorrow even if he scores runs too he will not be credited for his performance. Subhasish	When the news broke out on Kumble''s cpatainship, I had posted a comment that I had some apprehensions about his captainship which I hope did not come true. And three matches old, his decision on declaration is already dubious. The reason could be protecting Karthik''s future or it could have been a safety net of winning crwon of the series. But it brought to my fears to fore that he has the issues of Dravid. He is docile. he deserves every bit of accolades for his feat, and may be is a good thinker of the game. But he wilts under pressure....We either need the likes of Dhoni or Zaheer or Dada to lead fearlessly. It will take our success rates much higher in the long run. ANANT	arvin & S Balakrishnan sound like a couple of ignorant guys. no worries anyway in a country where Dravid is respected there are a couple of brain deads like u. all i have to say about dravid is that we know he is not in form as of now but at least he is trying to score runs, he does atleast get those 30s and 40s and trust me u will see him do a gr8 job in aus, its ok if the detractors call him selfish or a no good player they will all eat crap aftr the OZ series. but for now hail ganguly he is the MAN. hope sachin is back at the earliest. if these guys along with laxman, kumble, and yuvi are at their best we will thrash the aussies ( Posted: Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 20:11 )
