New Delhi: Bangladesh romped home victorious over Bermuda by an emphatic seven-wicket margin to enter the Super Eight stage of the World Cup on a rain-interrupted day at Port of Spain on Sunday.

Bermuda could only muster 94 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated 21 overs after rain halted play on four different occasions in the final match of Group B, also the last before the Super Eight begins on Tuesday.

The frequent stoppages meant Bemuda never got going and the Bangladeshi bowlers continued to capture wickets at crucial intervals to have a relatively smooth chance of making it to the Super Eight stages of the World Cup.

So they did, as Bangladesh batsman Saqibul Hasan struck the winning boundary to formally end India's chance of pipping their neighbours. Mohammad Ashraful was declared the man of the match for steadying the Bangla ship with an unbeaten 29 from 32 balls.

Abdur Razzak took three wickets, while Mashrafe Mortaza and Saqibul Hasan took two each to leave Bermuda reeling. Bangladesh, too, started on a jittery note as they lost three quick wickets for 37 runs, but overhauling a target of 95 was only a mere formality.

Saleem Mukuddem struck thrice with his lively medium pace, as he was getting appreciable seam movement from the rain-soaked Queen's park Oval wicket.

The game, after being interrupted several times by short bursts of rain, was reduced to 21 overs per side.

Bermuda lost a wicket in the first over as Mashrafe Mortaza got opener Steven Outerbridge for a duck in the first over of the game. But play was suspended again after just three overs.
