New Delhi: After over 70 days of uncertainty, during which Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore was tipped to take over as successor to Greg Chappell, the BCCI's search for a new coach is likely to end on Saturday.

Former England spinner John Embury and ex-South Africa coach Graham Ford arrived in India early on Saturday to make their presentations on coaching the Indian team.

The seven-member Coach Selection Committee will judge the two candidates by their success record, feedback from current employers, references from players who have worked with them, the Indian team's preference, and, lastly, their presentations and discussions with the committee before taking the final call.

Both the candidates are currently associated with English county teams, Graham Ford with Kent and John Emburey with Middlesex.

The dice seems to be loaded in Ford's favour with the Indian team also having suggested his name, while the Board is still mulling the prospect of having a 'team of coaches', where Emburey may also be called in as a spin bowling consultant.

Former India captain Gundappa Viswanath is also in the race for becoming th batting consultant, completing the team that already has former India internationals Venkatesh Prasad and Robin Singh as fast bowling and fielding coaches respectively.

Ford has two years of international coaching experience with South Africa and a phenomenal success rate, winning them nine out of a total of 11 series. Emburey, on the other hand, has no international experience but has a decent record with Middlesex.

As former cricketers, though, Emburey has the greater share of fame with 66 Test matches for England, also considered to be one of the better off-spinners of all time. Ford has never played international cricket.

But after a torrid time with former coach Greg Chappell at the helm that saw the Indians crash out of the World Cup in the first round, the deciding factor may just be maintaining a low profile and avoiding controversial headlines.
