Kolkata: On a high after their bonus point victory over Services in their last match, relegated Bengal will look to do an encore to take themselves up the Group B table when they take on lowly Tripura in their Ranji Trophy Plate League encounter at Eden Gardens from Saturday.
Bengal have made one change to their already-strong batting line-up, recalling Arindam Ghosh who was dropped after his failure in their first match against Madhya Pradesh. Ghosh will replace Shreevats Goswami in the middle-order to bolster the batting line-up.
Bengal did not have the right kind of start to their Ranji campaign conceeding first innings lead to hosts Madhya Pradesh. However, in their next match against Services, opener Rohan Banerjee dazzled with a century on his debut to set Bengal on course for a bonus point win.
Inspired by Rohan's performance, bowlers too chipped in as Services were shown no mercy with Bengal registering an innings and 226-run victory to climb to the third spot.
Bengal, in fact, are relishing at the prospect of taking on Tripura who have come here with two consecutive losses behind them. The only concern for Bengal would be the poor run of form by their top batsman Manoj Tiwary who has a tally of 18 runs in three innings.
Teams:
Bengal (likely): Rohan Banerjee, Anustup Majumdar, Arindam Ghosh, Manoj Tiwary, Laxmi Ratan Shukla (c), Wriddhiman Saha, Aveek Chowdhury, Ritam Kundu, Ashok Dinda, Ranadeb Bose, Sourav Sarkar.
Tripura (from): Biswajit Dey, Rajib Saha, Timir Chanda, Rana Dutta, Abhijeet Dey, Jiban Paul, Nishit Shetty, Vineet Jain, Kishore Muhuri, Rajesh Banik, Tushar Saha (c), Joyanta Debnath, Bappa Das, Rajib Dutta, Gopesh Bhowmik.
