Kolkata: The cancelled first round Ranji Trophy Plate League Group B tie between Bengal and Assam will now be held from December 5-8, a top BCCI official said on Tuesday.

With no Ranji matches taking place from December 3 to 10, a period during which the inaugural edition of the Champions League Twenty20 will be held, the BCCI today decided to make full use of the time.

Following serial blasts in Guwahati, the Plate League opener scheduled to be held on November 3-6 was put off as the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) cited security grounds.

"That's a period when Champions League Twenty20 will take place and hence no Ranji matches will be held. So we decided to make use of that period and hold the pending Plate League match between Bengal and Assam," BCCI chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty told PTI today.

The BCCI conveyed both the associations about the fresh dates on Tuesday.
