Champs League postponed after terror attacks

New Delhi: After the terror attacks in Mumbai on Wednesday, the Champions League Twenty20 tournament has indefinitely been postponed. The new dates will be announced next month. The league was scheduled to start on December 3 at three venues in India including Mumbai.
The decision was taken on Thursday by the Governing Council of the Champions League Twenty20 after consultations with the three founding board members of the tournament – Board of Control for Cricket in India, Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa.
Lalit Modi, Chairman of the Champions League Twenty20, said, "We held consultations among all the stakeholders including the founding members, the participating teams and members of the Governing Council after the unfortunate terrorist attacks in Mumbai on Wednesday night. It was agreed that in the best interests of all concerned, the inaugural edition of the Champions League 2020 should be postponed."
12 officials from the champions league were inside the Taj hotel during the siege. One official was in fact shot at thrice.
Teams were meant to start arriving for the tournament on Thursday. English county champions Middlesex, the two South African teams; Nashua Titans and the Dolphins and the two Australian teams; the Victoria Bushrangers and the Western Warriors were in fact scheduled to check in to the two hotels that have been attacked.
Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Warne was also on his way to India when the terror attacks in Mumbai took place. Warne, who is is now staying put in Singapore where he was in transit, was also booked to stay at the Taj hotel. He will now head back home.
