Dubai: In a glittering ceremony, India's one-day and Twenty20 captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his deputy Yuvraj Singh bagged awards for the ICC's ODI Player of the Year and International Twenty20 Performance of the Year at the LG ICC Awards on Wednesday.
Dhoni, who a few weeks ago regained his number one rank as the ODI batsman in the ICC rankings, beat compatriot Sachin Tendulkar to add another feather to his cap.
Yuvraj's brilliant show with the bat in the Twenty20 World Championships held in South Africa last year saw him become the first recipient of the newly instituted International Twenty20 Performance of the Year.
The awards show, which is regarded as cricket's Oscars, kicked off with the Emerging Player of the Year Award, which was handed to Sri Lanka's spin sensation Ajantha Mendis, who pipped fellow newcomers Ishant Sharma, Stuart Broad and Morne Morkel.
However, the two big awards for the night - the Test Player of the Year and the Cricketer of the Year - had no representation from India.
South African fast bowler Dale Steyn was named the Test Cricketer of the Year for his outstanding showing in the longer version of the game.
