New Delhi: Hamish Marshall blasted an unconquered 80 off 54 balls with eight fours and three sixes to lead Royal Bengal Tiger to a nine-wicket win over the Chennai Superstars in Match 30 of the ICL 20-20 Indian Championship on Tuesday.

Chasing a challenging 162, Bengal reached the target with five balls to spare. Marshall was ably supported by Deep Dasgupta as the duo put together 132 runs for the opening stand in just 14.2 overs.

Bengal got off to a steady but slow start with Dasgupta finding it tough to penetrate the field. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman soon joined Marshall in an outstanding show of strokeplay. Dasgupta was finally dismissed for a 46-ball 54.

Captain Craig McMillan did not let the momentum slip as he played a cameo, scoring an unbeaten 21 off 15 balls with four hits to the fence.

Earlier, a blazing 90-run stand between Hemang Badani (55) and Rajagopal Sathish (50) lifted the Chennai Superstars to 161. Upul Chandana shined for the Bengal Tigers with figures of four for 38.

The duo who came together at 59-4 in the 10th over brought Chennnai back in the game with a counterattack. Bengal's part-time bowlers -- Mihir Diwakar, Rohan Gavaskar and McMillan -- gave away 51 runs in their combined four overs.

Chennai after opting to bat first lost Hemanth Kumar (one) early but Ganpathi Vignesh (22) led the attack from the other end. But Andre Adams struck for the second time in a row to end Vignesh's promising knock. Thereafter, Bengal won the momentum back with two more wickets that included the scalp of the dangerous Russell Arnold (21).

It was once again left to Badani and Sathish who have been in prolific form to resurrect the Chennai innings. Badani smashed six boundaries and one six while Sathish clobbered five boundaries and three sixes.
