Mumbai: The Deodhar Trophy, India's domestic zonal one-day competition, is back on after the BCCI decided to scrap it earlier.

The BCCI on Saturday released the domestic schedule which included the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, Challenger Series, inter-state T20 trophy and Duleep Trophy.

The schedules for the Deodhar Trophy and the domestic Twenty20 competition, which was closed down after the first edition in 2007, were still being worked out.

"Schedules of the Prof DB Deodhar Trophy and the Twenty20 Super League for the Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be finalised in the Working Committee Meeting," the release said.

The BCCI faced the wrath of a local right-wing group after it ommitted the Deodhar Trophy from the schedule.

"BCCI has planned Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in Maharashtra at the cost of Deodhar Trophy. The Board has insulted Marathi pride by cancelling the tournament named after Prof DB Deodhar," Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

The BCCI backtracked later, with the body's chief administrative officer saying they were trying to squeeze the tournament back in.

"The IPL starts on March 18 and we want to complete the domestic calendar four-five days before that," Shetty said. "There is a proposal to have the zonal Twenty20 simultaneously with the Champions League and have the all-India knock-out towards the end of the season."

Ranji Trophy

The Ranji Trophy season would begin on November 3, with defending champions Mumbai taking on Punjab.
