Dhoni, Tendulkar to fight for ICC honours

New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Dhoni will be competing for the ODI player of the year in the International Cricket Council (ICC) awards for the year 2008.
While the two Indian big names will fight it out for this prestigious award, Dhoni will also take on another compatriot, Yuvraj Singh, in the T20 performer of the year category. Australia's Brett Lee and West Indies skipper Chris Gayle are the other nominees in the T20 category.
Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma has been nominated in the Emerging Player of the Year category in the LG ICC Awards 2008, the fifth staging of the event which was established in 2004.
Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene, South Africa pacer Dale Seyn and Shivnarine Chanderpaul of the West Indies have been nominated both in the Cricketer of the Year and Test Player of the Year categories.
Other nominee for the Cricketer of the Year prize are South Africa captain Graeme Smith while teammate Jacques Kallis is a further nominee in the Test Player category.
