Rajkot: Skipper Rahul Dravid has reacted for the first time to the West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels alleged links with a bookie.

"It is a part and parcel of playing cricket in India. In the last three or four years there has never been a situation when there has been no controversy. So as a cricketer we will have to learn to deal with it and move on. We will focus on the team and put in some good performances. We must keep improving as a team. There is a lot of interest in cricket, a lot of speculations and I guess that's how it is going to be. We can't change that," he said.

Dravid has also played down the controversy over the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking an explanation on his outburst against the manager of Team India during the South African tour.

"Nothing really worries me. It has been a part and parcel of the cricketer and if I am asked to give an explanation I will give one," Dravid said in Rajkot on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah confirmed that Dravid would be asked about his comments on the manager on Monday.

"No we have not asked for any explanation. After all managers’ post is not given for cricketing abilities but for administrative abilities. Generally a Board member goes as the manager and he looks after the discipline and general administration," Shah said.

The selection committee will meet in Mumbai on Monday to pick the World Cup squad.

The manager of the Indian team on the South African tour, Chetan Desai, had apparently in his report to the Board of Control for Cricket in India had mentioned that there was a spat between coach Greg Chappell and Virender Sehwag before the third Test in Cape Town.

But Dravid had questioned the authenticity of the report.

"Firstly I have not seen that report and to be honest there in no problem within the team. How authentic your report is and you obviously got it from somewhere but anyway I think it is important to put it in perspective," a visibly agitated Dravid had said.

"I have been asked questions and my views on the report given by someone who when. I look into the history of Indian cricket; I don't necessarily see his name featuring very prominently. So when I am asked to comment on people at least you should expect me to answer question about people who have been involved with the game or at least played the game in some capacity. Any one is entitled to comment or write a report but me commenting on that is possible only if it is worthy of my comment," he had said.

India take on Sri Lanka in the second One-Dayer of the four-match series at Rajkot on Sunday. The series is currently tied 0-0 after the first ODI at Kolkata was rained out.
