Kochi: A DVD on cricket coaching in Malayalam, made by former Duleep Trophy and Ranji Trophy player P Balachandran, would be launched here on Thursday.

The DVD titled 'Cricket padikkam-Balachandranodoppam' (learn cricket along with Balachandran), stated to be the first Malayalam DVD on cricket coaching, will be launched jointly by former national selector and India stumper Syed Kirmani and film star Suresh Gopi, at a function here.

The DVD would also have expert comments of a host of sportspersons, including former 'sprint queen' P T Usha, footballer I M Vijayan and India speedster S Sreesanth, Balachandran, who had already authored a book on cricket coaching in Malayalam, said.

Former Kerala Ranji team captain and leg-spinner K Ananthapadmanabhan, present Ranji trophy players, including medium pacers Sony Cheruvathur, Prashant Chandran and Balachandran, are among those who would share their experiences in the DVD, which will run for approximately two hours.

Since running is an important part of cricket, Usha talks about running, while Vijayan speaks on the importance of dedication for excelling in the sport, citing his own example.

Sreesanth would talk about fast bowling and Ananthapadmanabhan on spin bowling, Balachandran said.
