Chennai: England's debutant off-spinner Graeme Swann took two wickets in his first over to leave India at 37 for three at tea on the second day of their first Test at MA Chidambaram stadium here on Friday.
Gautam Gambhir (19) became Swann's first victim in the last over before tea. Swann then removed Rahul Dravid (3) on the last ball. Earlier, opener Virender Sehwag (9) fell to pacer James Anderson.
Sachin Tendular (3) was the not out Indian batsman.
Yuvraj Singh and Ishant Sharma rounded off India's splendid bowling effort by taking the last two England wickets to bowl them out for 316 shortly after lunch on the second day here.
England added 22 runs after lunch but their run-making lacked urgency throughout the first innings even as Matt Prior attempted to get quick runs with a brisk half-century.
Prior remained not out on 53 but ran out of partners.
The spin duo of Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra helped India tighten the noose with three wickets each, while Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma and Yuvraj Singh all figured in the wickets column.
England could muster just 65 runs of the 29 overs they faced in the first session, losing Andrew Flintoff (18), James Anderson (19) and debutant Graeme Swann (one) in the process.
At lunch, Matt Prior (39) and Stephen Harmison (6) were at the crease.
