Bangalore: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who will retire from international cricket after the on-going Test series against Australia, denied giving an interview to a Bengali newspaper criticising the Indian cricket selectors and his own teammates.
"The reports of an interview from a Bengali daily published in other newspapers are false. I have not given an interview of that sorts to anyone and hopefully also in future. I request you to clarify with me before publishing views from other sources," Indian team's logistics manager Russel Radhakrishnan read out the message from Ganguly in the Press Box on Saturday.
The Bengali newspaper had quoted Ganguly as saying that every Tom, Dick and Harry have been playing for India and even after playing 400 matches for the country, his place in the team was uncertain after just one failure in Sri Lanka.
It also quoted him as saying that some of the players have changed their hairstyles more than the number of runs they have scored but are still selected in the team.
