Mohali: Sunil Gavaskar on Monday was all praise for the effort put in by Gautam Gambhir in making his second Test hundred.
Appreciating his efforts, the legend said, "This century I think has probably helped him getting over that road block or mental block of him getting out in those 70s or 80s. As he said, he tried to keep himself in the present and he never tried to think too far of that hundred and he got to it. And now that he has got to it, I am confident that there will be a lot more to come because now he knows the journey from 20 to 30 to 40, 50, 60, 70, 80.. and so on.
He further added, "The journey gets hardest immediately after 50 when you raise your bat towards the dressing room and you are acknowledging the cheers of the crowd -- that is when your concentration goes down a bit and then it gets a little bit harder around say 70s and 80s, when you mentally start to get a little bit tired.
"So, he has got to learn that and I think he has learnt how to get through that journey. And I think that is one of the best things that has happened for Indian cricket."
