Johannesburg: Deccan Chargers skipper and former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist is only one six away from a noble goal - earning 25 modified bikes for children with disabilities.
On every six that Gilchrist hits, global direct-selling company Amway would finance a special bike to disabled kids under the 'Gift of Wheels Scheme'.
Gilchrist, who has hit 24 sixes in the second season of the Indian Premier League so far, is just one short of the target set to him by Amway.
Each bike is modified to suit children with disabilities and will allow them to move about freely.
The dashing Australian left-hander said that every six he hits in the IPL would be sweeter since he would know he was helping a charity.
"The bikes bring so much happiness to children with disabilities. So I am going to try and hit as many sixes as I can, and after all helping kids is a great incentive to send the ball back over the bowler's head and over the fence," Gilchrist said.
