Mumbai: The Indian Premier League Drug Tribunal on Saturday adjourned the hearing in the doping case of Mohammad Asif and the new dates for the hearing will be announced later.
The decision was taken after members of the Drug Tribunal consisting of Dr. Ravi Bapat (ex Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences), Sunil Gavaskar and Shirish Gupte -- a leading lawyer, held a preliminary hearing in the case at which Asif and his lawyer were present.
Both the Specimens – Sample A and Sample B - supplied by Asif had revealed Adverse Analytical Findings in results from the WADA-approved laboratory in Switzerland with the data collected by IDTM, the Sweden based independent agency which organized the anti-doping testing in accordance with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) standards.
It was also checked if Asif, the Delhi Daredevil player had applied for and was granted a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for the said drug but it was found that the pacer had not applied for a TUE.
Asif faces action since the above-mentioned Adverse Analytical Findings constitute a violation of paragraph 3.1.1 and/or 3.1.2 and/or 3.2 of the Anti-Doping Code of the DLF Indian Premier League.
