Bangalore: India's sacked bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad said on Thursday that he was deeply hurt and disappointed with the decision taken by the Indian cricket board (BCCI) in the wake of India's poor showing in the recently concluded Champions Trophy in South Africa.
"All I can say about this news, if it is true, is that I am deeply hurt and disappointed by the decision taken by the BCCI as I had done my job to the best of my knowledge and abilities and the results are there for all to see," Prasad told Cricketnext.com here on Thursday.
The BCCI decided to terminate Prasad's and fielding coach Robin Singh's contract without giving any explanations.
Both Robin Singh, a former India and Tamil Nadu Ranji player and former Indian seamer and Karnataka star Prasad were working without a formal contract and were on a retainer payment basis.
The tall Karnataka star has taken 96 Test wickets and 196 One-Day scalps from 33 Tests and 161 one-day internationals respectively.
He has been in charge of India's bowling since the tour to Bangladesh just after the disastrous World Cup campaign in 2007.
Robin Singh on the other hand handled the team's fielding from that same tour, was recently appointed coach of Mumbai Indians for the third IPL season.
The former all-rounder represented India in 136 ODIs, scoring 2336 runs at 25.75 bagging 69 wickets at 43.26.
