New Delhi: One man in whom India's hopes of firing at the top rest on is Gautam Gambhir. After setting the Twenty20 stage as well as the tri-series in Bangladesh alight with his batting, Gambhir is looking forward to the Asia Cup. CNN-IBN's Rupha Ramani spoke to the Delhi lad.

CNN-IBN: How important is your role at the top of the order and your partnership with Virender Sehwag?

Gautam Gambhir: I think when you start doing well for the team, your role and responsibilities changes. And the team starts looking up to you for winning the games for them. It is a great challenge. More than the responsibility, it becomes a challenge. And International cricket is all about challenges and trying to come out of it as winners.

So far, the way we are playing cricket, it is important for us to continue with the same momentum and go out there and win the Asia Cup.

CNN-IBN: Looking at the Asia Cup, you are up against quite a few tough teams like Pakistan, Sri Lanka and others. How do you see India performing?

Gautam Gambhir: We have been playing fantastic cricket since the Twenty20 World Cup. We have won quite a few finals and have beaten Australia in Australia. So, I think if we can play to our potential, we would be one of the top most sides in the world.

CNN-IBN: How difficult was it for you to adjust from the T20 format to the a 50-over game?

Gautam Gambhir: When you are playing for your country, you need to adapt as early as you can. When you are playing for your country, the only thing that is there in your mind is to go out there and perform to the best of your ability and get as many runs as possible.

CNN-IBN: You have been among runs since the twenty20 started. Do you think twenty20 cricket actually helped you to build your game further?
