ICC receives first security report

Karachi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has received its first security report on the measures taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for hosting the forthcoming Chamipons Trophy matches in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
According to the Dubai-based sources, the first confidential interim report has been conveyed verbally to the ICC officials this week by Johannesburg-based South African security company- M/s Nicholls Steyen and Asscoiates.
The company, which was engaged for the security during the World Cup, has again been asked by the ICC to oversee the arrangements in Pakistan for hosting the Champions Trophy following some concern raised by few foreign players.
It is learnt that the two security company directors - Bob Nicholls and Rory Steyn conducted a series of meetings with the ICC officials and the duo are also scheduled to arrive in Karachi on Friday. They will be in city till the end of the on-going Asia Cup.
Interestingly, Rory Steyn was the team leader of the former South African President - Nelson Mandela's close protection unit from 1996 to 1999.
The other three security experts- Faisul Nagel (the head of the sports security division of the company), Bruce Spargo and Steve Stephenson (stadium security specialists) are already in the country.
Reg Dickason, the expert recruited by Australia, England and New Zealand has returned after paying a visit to this city late last month.
