I was ready for follow-on: Zaheer

Zaheer strengthens the criticism that Dravid had not enforced the follow-on despite a 319-run lead over England because he wanted to play safe. Read The Article

Sree Tangella Let us look at what general atheletes can do around the world:

1. They are flexible enough to go down when running at full speed.
2. They can run 100m in at least 12 secs -- none of our guys can do it in even 20!
3. They can bench at least 200 lbs. Our guys would be lucky to bench 50.

This has huge impact on a person''s fitness and eventually his performance in the field. An endurance athelete that can run for say 90 mins continuously will have a better chance of concentrating for 210 mins in the field because it is easier for him. Let us focus on criticizing the establishment for not training the atheletes to fit this picture instead of going around and criticizing a captain for not enforcing the follow-on. Our atheletes who bowl cannot field, it they bad they cannot RUN. I dont care if a MONKEY captains the team as long as they are playing the best cricket possible. It does not matter if you put 11 Chimpanzees on the field as long as they are stoping balls, talking good catches and running down balls in the ground.

You get the picture? These are 11 of our best atheletes or are they? ( Posted: Friday , August 17, 2007 at 23:38 )
Sree Tangella Continued from previous:

I personally believe that Saurav helped the team become just that "a team". They started liking each other. When Saurav was criticized, it was actually correct. He had not been scoring runs and had not been working on his technique well. The pressure of idiots around the country was weighing in whenever he walked in. However, I believe that the one problem that Saurav had was that he did not believe in fitness. Rahul is pushing that. No matter what you say, if you look at the Indian athelete, he is no where near in the shape of any professional athelete around the world. Cricket is becoming athletic so we need atheletes. Dravid would have supported this theory by Chappel. We like speculating about Saurav and Rahul. I think this time around we are idiots because they are good friends and we are creating problems.

more Sree Tangella Commnnn Guys stop with the Dravid bashing. He is our best bat today and has been the man standing up for the team''s pride for over 10 years now. He is growing into captaincy. I heard some idiot talk about Azhar as captain. Man Azhar was a complete compromise. The team was so bad, we had to just have someone as captain. Do you guys even remember why Azhar was made captain in the first place? Raj Singh Dungarpur when he made Azhar captain said "he is the most non-controversial person in the team so we made him captain".

Look at the bigger picture. Azhar did his job as captain for as long as he did it. However, it was a real compromise. The team was in shambles between 1987 and 2000. Too many factions. I remember Ajay Jadeja and Azhar were on that program with Farukh Shaik. Both criticized Kumble for not being an open friend. This was because supposedly they did not know that he was going to get married!!! You played along side a guy for over 10 years. If he is not opening up to you enough to even tell you that he has marriage plans! Dont you think there is a serious trust issue here?

Sudipto For the last few days Indian cricket has again come back to spotlight. Thanks to a series win against weak England and a remarkable (bad or good)decesion by Dravid. But for me the only bad thing which is somewhat shadowed because of these debates is the dismisal of Sachin Tendulkar in the second innings and his painstaking batting in the first. In the midst of all this praises and bashes we Indians are losing one of our finest player of all time. His end is approaching fast. We should spare some thoughts on him as well.He really entertained us in the past. And is trying desperately even today. But it is like a quick sand. The more you try to get out the more you are engalphed.Innigs after innings he is trying to show that he is not finished. But...It is this matter that is probably the most painful and harsh reality of this series, nothing else. ( Posted: Friday , August 17, 2007 at 21:53 )
Nandu If Dravid cant trust his team mates better he can resign and give it to someone who trust. We should have the killer instinct man. if we dont please dont play. ( Posted: Friday , August 17, 2007 at 19:48 )
shalabh agarwal I think "follow on" issue has been exaggerated.what''s the point in discussing it too much, whether dravid should have enforced it or not. why should we worry about it? We just want good performance from our men in blue and they have done that. Rahul dravid and his boys have done a commendable job by winning the series after 21 years. Beating england in their own den is not a joke and we should not forget that a very strong team like Australia lost the Ashes to them in 2005. We should be even more proud of our team and India will beat England in the upcoming one-day series too. BEWARE AUSTRALIANS!!!!!!! ( Posted: Friday , August 17, 2007 at 18:43 )
Ganesh Don''t judge whether Dravid''s decision was right or wrong. See if the reasons quoted for that decision are true. If has has said that Zaheer was tired, Dravid has done two mistakes. 1. It shows that Dravid has not taken Zaheer into confidence who has been the strike bowler all through the series before commenting that Zaheer was tired. 2. If Zaheer was really tired,he is unfit to play international cricket and Dravid has picked up an unfit player. ( Posted: Friday , August 17, 2007 at 16:24 )
Cricket Fan hey Zaheer: Remember the winner takes it all ! So let''s not get defensive. ALL you guys are heroes !! ( Posted: Friday , August 17, 2007 at 05:00 )
Akash Let''s forget the follow on part. But what
about record breaking strike rate and missed
catch of Vaughn the following morning. Dravid''s
performance in this tour has been "PATHETIC". ( Posted: Friday , August 17, 2007 at 04:04 )
more Subhash K. Patel Hey Mr. More :
With due apology, could we the old fans of
Zaheer and Sourav, remind you "the notorious Chappell back-patter, and quick profit-monger via sports (vide ICL), Please quit blabbering!!!! It was a catastrophic indigestion on the part of BCCI to take you in the "Selection Committee", let alone chairmanship of the same. You should have stayed permanently as a "joker"
in the "Barnum-Bailey Circus Party". ( Posted: Thursday , August 16, 2007 at 23:39 )
