Colombo: History was made on Thursday at the SSC here when India referred against a leg before decision.
This was the first time in the history of Test cricket that the on-field umpire's decision was referred to the TV umpire against Sri Lankan opener Malinda Warnapura off Harbhajan Singh's bowling.
On-field Umpire Mark Benson consulted TV umpire Rudy Koertzen and gave his inputs on the line of delivery and whether the impact of the ball was in stumps. After getting feedback from Koertzen, Benson stuck to his decision for giving the batsmen not out.
India were left with two more review calls in the innings.
Earlier, Sri Lanka resumed day two on a good note in the first Test. Skipper Mahela Jayawardene and Warnapura started the day on 85-2 and took their partnership for the third wicket to over 100 runs.
