New Delhi: With the Nagpur Test in danger of going South Africa's way the BCCI is desperate for India to hang on to the No. 1 Test ranking.

It is learnt that the Cricket Association of Bengal has been told to prepare a turning wicket for the second Test.

But Eden Gardens curator Prabir Mukherjee will not tolerate any incursions into his territory. He has flatly refused to change the way the wicket has been prepared.

If India lose in Nagpur then they must win the next Test to retain their number one ranking.

A similar situation in Kanpur in 2008 against the Proteas had seen a rank turner which led to the ICC asking for a report on the under-prepared wicket.
