Kochi: Chairman of Selectors Krish Srikkanth doesn't seem to agree with VVS Laxman's claim on India's dwindling spin resources and believes they have a decent bench strength. He spoke about all that and India's chances in the series against South Africa in an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN.

On India's chances against South Africa

The South Africans would definitely have done their homework. Over the last two-three series, they have come to India and have done well. But it is a good challenge and I'm sure Dhoni and Co. would be looking forward to it. We would have to play to the best of our ability to beat South Africa, but I'm confident the Indian team will do it.

On India's strengths

I think our batting line-up has been our strength and very well backed up by good bowlers. Our main advantage is that we have one of the best opening pairs in the world ever in Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. They are in good form. Sachin Tendulkar is in good touch, but yes, Rahul Dravid would be missed.

I think Sachin has been in great form all through his career. But if you look at his batting over the last 1-2 years, he has been in terrific form both in Test and one-day cricket.

On VVS Laxman's statement on India's spin resources

I don't know from where this news has come, so I don't want to believe this news is 100 per cent. I don't think VVS Laxman would have made a statement like that and I don't believe he has made a statement like that. But still, everybody has a point of view. Yet, I am very confident about our spin resources. We have a lot of bench strength in every department and I don't think there is a cause to worry.
