New Delhi: India have reached the final of the Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia with a thrilling win over New Zealand in the first semi-final on Wednesday.
In a rain-reduced match, India were set a revised target of 191 in 43 overs after New Zealand had made 205 for eight batting first.
Despite being reduced to 139 for six at one stage, the Kiwis staged a fine recovery to cross the 200-run mark. Corey Anderson top scored with 70 from just 68 balls, while three Indians picked up a couple of wickets each.
In response the Indian innings faltered briefly despite a half-century by opener Shreevats Goswami. But Saurabh Tiwary guided the team home with a calm 29. But it was captain Virat Kohli who led from the front with two wickets and a determined 43.
India now play the winner of the second semi-final between two-time defending champions Pakistan and South Africa on Thursday.
