New Delhi: The Indian and Pakistani teams arrived in New Delhi on Monday for the first Test of the three-match series that starts at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on November 22.

The other two Tests of the series are at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata (November 30-December 4) and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore (December 8-12).

India won the just-concluded five-match One-Day series 3-2 and have a new skipper for the Tests in veteran leg-spinner Anil Kumble, who took 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan at the Feroz Shah Kotla in 1999 to equal Jim Laker's world record.

But there isn't much good news for the ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who might be forced to sit out of the Delhi Test.

Dhoni sustained an ankle injury while batting in the Jaipur One-Dayer. He went to Delhi's Apollo hospital on Monday for an examination.

Dhoni, though will in all likelihood be fit for the match but with a lot of cricket coming up over the next few weeks, the management may just decide against playing him in the Test, especially as a back-up wicket-keeper is available in Dinesh Karthik who will open the batting.

Meanwhile, with the winter setting in over north India, the Kotla pitch is likely to help the spinners and would not have much bounce due to the haze.

The two teams have contrasting bowling attacks.

While India have named three spinners – Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and Murali Kartik – in the Test team, Pakistan have named just one front line spinner in leggie Danish Kaneria.

India have a good Test record at the ground winning nine out of the 28 matches played at the venue. Against Pakistan, the hosts have won two and drawn two.
