India ready to face Oz fire, says Uthappa

Bangalore: India's historic win at the Twenty20 World Cup had not imposed any pressure on the team which has worked out a strategy to take on the Aussies to fight "fire with fire" in the coming ODI series, Robin Uthappa, part of the victorious team, said on Thursday.
"The pressure is not on us. We have done exceedingly well," he told the media.
He said the team was "raring to go" against the Aussies in the one-day series commencing from September 29. "We have worked out a strategy to take on the Aussies. We will fight fire with fire," he said.
To a question that he appeared to struggle towards the latter half of the Twenty20 tournament, Uthappa said: "No, I don't think I was struggling. I was trying my best to contribute to the game in any possible way I could."
India's ace seamer Zaheer Khan, who missed the Twenty20 World Cup due to an injury, said: "The break was critical for me. The break has gone on well. I have done a lot of work during the break. I am looking forward to the coming series. It is important to start the series on a good note."
On whether the absence of some key Australian players in the coming series would impact the game, Zaheer said it was more important to focus on the strengths of the Indian team rather than on the absence of the players in the rival team.
"It depends on how we perform. We should focus on our strengths. We have done well and should continue to do well," Zaheer, who had followed the Twenty20 series closely, told reporters.
On bowling on a flat track, Zaheer said, "We have to still bowl well. On any track you have to give your best. It is a team game. We need both bowlers and batsmen."
On Twenty2O, he said it was not that bowlers were not taking wickets. "A bowler always stands a chance."
Recalling the historic moments of the victory parade in Mumbai on Wednesday, Uthappa said the entire event was one that would be cherished. "It was so unreal. We will cherish it. It does not happen everyday," he said, referring to the massive backing by the people and media.
"There were old people standing on the balconies and sending kisses. It just shows how much people love the game and how emotional they are about it," he said.
The batsman said the fact that they had achieved something great had only sunk in when they came back.
