Katra (Jammu): What a better way to cheer for India than to invoke the Gods for help. As the Indian team gets set for the big challenge, there are some who are doing whatever it takes to ensure an Indian win.
Here's a classic example of what a cricket crazy nation this is. If cheering for the Indian team wasn't enough, some enterprising Sadhu's offered prayers at the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in the hope that the Gods will come to the rescue, even if all else fails.
"India ki jo team bahar gays hai, humne vichar kar Maha Yagya prtahna ki. Roz ek mantra ki ahuti dilwata hoon. Pura vishawas hai; jeet ke ayenge (We wanted to pray for the Indian team. Everyday offerings are made to the Gods,)" Swami Shri Chandra, a priest, says.
And if that wasn't enough then get this: Of the 28 huge pandals set here, three have now been dedicated solely for regaining the cricketing glory.
Arjun Kumar Diwedi, a local priest, adds: "Mantra main intni shamsta hai wivash Cup kya poori duniya (These mantras have the power to win any game)."
Kewal Krishan Katra, a local, says: "Sachin, Sachin, Sachin; humare roam roam main basa hai (Sachin is our favourite).”
The media should be on high alert, if this way of cheering for India pulls through.
