India eye to level series; Aussies up for it

Hyderabad: India's duel with Australia will take its third turn on Friday when the two sides square off in the third One-Dayer of the Future Cup Series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here.

Flared tempers from the last game in Kochi has made the situation trickier for the Indians, as their strategy to get under the skin of the 'arrogant Aussies' has so far backfired. And now, with 1-0 down in the seven-match series, India are focussing on getting their act together to not let the deficit increase.

Captain Ricky Ponting is confident of getting back in the line-up for Friday's game after missing the first two, but he said that only a last test on the morning of the match will determine his fate, which will be a marked boost for the Aussies, who have already managed to post huge totals despite his absence.

The Indians, on the other hand, looked bluesy during their 84-run hammering in the second One-Dayer in Kochi on Tuesday, and have been heavily criticised for conceding the advantage early.

Sourav Ganguly is likely to be back after a hamstring niggle in the first ODI, and his sprightly ways at the nets was indicative of that.

But vice-captain Yuvraj Singh, though appreciative of his Australian counterparts, said that it was too early to take a call on which way the series was headed, and India have the capability to bounce back. "If we play to our potential, we will win."

Batting worries

Yuvraj, while addressing the media here in the absence of his skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, said that his team could make one or two changes in the batting order, and it was more likely to be seen if India are to bat first.
