Hyderabad: The major part of the Mohammad Asif hearing centered around the legal aspects of the doping case and therefore there was no real inputs by either former India captain Sunil Gavaskar or medical representative on board Dr. Ravi Bapat on Saturday.

"We only heard Mohammad Asif's lawyer. And Sunil Gavaskar had nothing to say today," said Dr. Bapat. "The hearing (it started at 11 in the morning) took place at BCCI headquarters and went on till about 5-6 hours."

"Asif was never nervous during the hearing," added Dr. Bapat.

Not only Pakistani pacer Mohammad Asif had brought his lawyer (Shahid Karim) and drug expert (Michael Graham), the IPL fielded two lawyers from London and a toxicologist on the first preliminary hearing, it is learnt here.

Both the urine specimens – Sample A and Sample B - supplied by Asif had revealed Adverse Analytical Findings in results from the WADA-approved laboratory in Switzerland with the data collected by IDTM, the Sweden based independent agency which organized the anti-doping testing in accordance with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) standards.

"The IPL has no authority to impose ban on my client. The action, if my client is found guilty, can only be taken by the IDTM," Asif's lawyer has argued on the first day, it is also learnt.
