Mumbai: It was Ahmedabad’s turn to display a deafening backlash against the Indian team. The Ahmedabad crowd let loose a mouthful of disparaging remarks against Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Zaheer Khan and Ajit Agarkar.
Tendulkar, Zaheer and Agarkar are in the city for the All-India inter-state Twenty20 tournament.
The motley crowd vented its spleen as the trio entered a hotel. They held banners asking them to plant their feet on the city only after winning the 2011 World Cup.
“Go back Sachin, go back Agarkar, go back Zaheer. Come to the city only after wining the 2011 World Cup” – shouted the protestors.
Security personnel intervened and somewhat salvaged the situation. The protestors were barred from the hotel premises as a posse of security barbed the gates.
Team India has been at the receiving end of widespread outrage following its first round exit in the World Cup.
