Mumbai: Kolkata Knight Riders have rubbished reports of their team director John Buchanan resigning in the wake of the team's poor performances in the ongoing IPL.

"Kolkata Knight Riders team management, owners and players remain resolute in their commitment to the Kolkata Knight Riders and are working hard as a team to overcome challenges they presently face," a press release from the franchise said on Wednesday.

Reports emerging on Wednesday suggested Buchanan may just quit soon, as the pressure to end the win-less streak mounts on the Knight Riders. But the franchise have clarified its not the case.

"Director Cricket Operations, John Buchanan continues to make all decisions in terms of cricket management and KKR does not intend changing squads or support staff. We look forward to improved results in the tournament's remaining matches.

Kolkata's defeat at the hands of Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday night was their seventh in nine games, and one was washed out.

"The recent slump in form is temporary and is experienced by all professionals at times," the release added. "The individuals involved are aware of this and are committed to persevering, because Kolkata Knight Riders is a great team and will continue to be that despite recent disappointing results."

The season for Kolkata Knight Riders started on a controversial note, with Buchanan suggesting a multiple-captain theory.

Although his plans didn't materialise due to widespread criticism, Kolkata still stripped Sourav Ganguly of the captaincy and made New Zealander Brendon McCullum his successor, who has had a torrid run in the IPL so far.
